“I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays. What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages,”--S King

What King demonstrated was how some seemingly intelligent people cherry-pick someone else's statements to put them in a bad light.

Kirk probably did read some verses from Leviticus to make a point. But he welcomed gay people into the Conservative movement and always gave them a hearing. He showed tolerance, properly defined.

It's not slander, it's libel (i.e. published) and he can be sued for it.
You’re correct. Now more importantly, exactly who is going to initiate this civil litigation concerning this libelous comment?

His estate?
The dead cannot be defamed. If there was a pending lawsuit at the time of death, the estate might be able to carry this litigation out, but no, it ain’t happening otherwise. Regardless, CK would have had a very difficult time winning this case even alive because he’s a public figure, which makes it far more difficult to win, particularly in his line of work. The burden of proof is much higher with celebrities.

Lefty Loonies may be dumb but they are not stupid! They will pay attention to the public sentiment and will calibrate their rhetoric accordingly. Fortunately, our current society is largely repulsed at the thought of seeing a man gunned down for having certain beliefs and/or convicitions.

I am pessimistic regarding what the future holds. Right now, the lefties are behaving themselves but rest assured that their "true colors" will eventually show. If you think it crazy that someone would celebrate the death of a Christian Conservative, remember that once upon a time, they used to pack out coloseums with people eager to see Christians tortured, burned, and eaten by lions. Human nature has not changed since then.

Very true. I walked past a TV a couple weeks ago that had a newscast on. They were talking about how the Democratic leaders were discussing the need to change the language they used to sway voters. God forbid that they would change actual policies! In their minds, they just have to change the way they spin things.

No he can't. You can't defame the dead. Kirk's estate has no standing to bring suit.
I don’t think any historical books would ever be published if living relatives could sue on behalf of a deceased relative.
