Public Apology

Really? Serious? 25 years? That's how long I've been here, and many others as well, but I thought you were a newcomer, relatively speaking. What was your alias back then?

To answer your question, I thought you claimed to be looking to move on from IFBs when you came on a couple years ago. I remember saying to you that you reminded me of myself at a time on the forum when I had started to soften on my hardline IFB stance.

Didn’t we have this conversation a couple years ago? Anyway, I’m not completely positive about the “25 years” part, but I’m pretty sure it was back before I went to law school, so maybe a little shy of that number. I know the vast majority of years I wasn’t on here until a couple years ago. Anyway, I called myself TeeJay back then.

To answer your other question, I’m sure you’re correct. The church has been falling apart for a couple years, so I probably was thinking about it. I just haven’t really started looking and visiting until recently.

😳

I'm speechless, figuratively, lol. TeeJay!!! Wow! Did I say speechless?

Either my memory is completely shot, or this is like one of those Masked Singer unveilings, lol.

LOL. I thought you knew. I’m pretty sure we had that conversation. But regardless, I wasn’t on here for probably twenty years, so understandable. When I rejoined, I couldn’t believe how different it was from way back then. This place was really hopping back then. I can’t say I was a very positive influence back then, so maybe in some small way I’ve tried to redeem myself and be a better forum member. I’m obviously a lot older too—sadly.

Definitely a better forum member, and we'll leave the age (and weight, lol) conversation alone. Oh man, so much I wanna say. But I'm gonna sleep on this one first, lol.

TeeJaaaay! 😁

I think I got along with everyone on here, I just couldn’t follow the rules and would get suspended all the time. Back then I was wasn’t sure if I was an agnostic or a Christian. But anyway, I don’t think I was on the forum for twenty years or so. I remember a Bob from Wyoming, he was really intelligent and nice.

Yes, I’d consider it KJVO. I don’t think they’re tyrannical about it. They don’t publicly shame someone for having a different version of the Bible, but the preaching is 100% KJVO.
That would be my biggest concern with IBF, their tendency to be KJVO, and also taking separation to such extent would not view any other group as "real Christians"

There are several big issues with this church. Honestly, the KJVO is probably the least of their problems right now.

That was during the time when the atheists/agnostics were restricted to "the basement" forum, wasn't it?

i remember that starting on andrews forum - not long after hurricane katrina when don elbornes forum went down...... but on the don elborne forum i rmember it being open for the most part ..... with everybody being free to post in any place they wanted to....... ....but then i also don;t remember very many non-believers or agnostics on elbornes forum.... ....

if it;s the same bob i am thnking of he was a major force on that forum.... .did he go by the name "dr bob"?.... ... he is very intelligent.... and very calvinist..... we use to argue back and forth about that in a friendly way.... but in general we got along very well.......

That sounds vaguely familiar. I don’t think I ever went full bore agnostic. I think I danced around the line as a deist, but it seems like I recall people saying I should be in a special section of the forum.

I think there were a couple of Bob’s but one was Dr Bob. I just remember the Casper, Wyoming connection because I spent a few months in Casper and not many people have ever been there, especially back then.

If I had to guess, I was probably somewhere between 2001 - 2003ish. I know the forum name is a little different now than then.

that was around the same time i joined it.... my dad had been on it for a little while and i just wanted to find out why someone who had previously had no use for computers - was suddenly spending a majority of his downtime at work posting on an internet forum.... .... what had happened was the fire department installed computers at all the stations for the first time and told all captains and supervisors to learn how to use them.... actually encouraged them to go online and get involved with forums and such... ..(there was no facebook back then).... . having gone to hyles-anderson college in the 1970s he decided to look up the college and see what was going on with it... ..the rest is history.... ...

I recognize some of the names on here, but I wasn’t a member very long. I occasionally lurked without being a member, but I bet I didn’t even lurk for ten or fifteen years. I definitely remember Alayman and Ransom from back then.

My attendance here is probably much like my attendance at ANY church in our area. I'm taking a period of recuperation from the silliness that is going on in the churches today, split after split, infighting, nepotism, cronyism. and such ilk! My wife has tired so of the attacks we've suffered for pointing out incorrect doctrine and standing with the the Word of God over their traditions of men. I probably would/could be like Ekklesian if I were here all the time. ;)
Finding a good church is difficult!!! Took us two years traveling... then two years when we found paradise.

Churches, conservative Baptist ones, rarely use the Bible for more than a postage stamp at tge beginning of a sermon.

he is still around and there
