I’ve always liked Texas Pete. I definitely wouldn’t call it sweet! It’ll make your mouth feel likeTabasco Sauce sweet? It's made from peppers, salt and vinegar.

Hot sauce, even Tabasco, is a fairly recent thing for me. I didn't used to like Tabasco because of the vinegar but I have developed a taste for it. I do use it sparingly... Just enough to detect a zing on my lips which I enjoy. I preferred the sauces that didn't have vinegar but still didn't use them much. As I've gotten older, my taste buds aren't as sensitive, so I'm looking for something to wake them up. Tabasco, in small amounts, does that well. I'm also more tolerant of heat than I was even ten years ago.I’ve always liked Texas Pete. I definitely wouldn’t call it sweet! It’ll make your mouth feel like![]()

it all depends on what you are accustomed to.... what you grew up with.... and even to some degree what your ancestoral heritage is because that determines your genetics..... .. and genetics determine how your taste buds and digestive enzymes are initially set up..... and those help determine what your body will tolerate or even abhor when it comes to food..... .. ..as an example - that why people of some races from some cultures cannot tolerate milk while others can live on it......Hot sauce, even Tabasco, is a fairly recent thing for me. I was thinking you were going along those lines. Having never tasted the Tabasco pepper itself, I cannot confirm or deny.it;s the pepper itself that has a sweet taste to it - in my opinion - when compared to other peppers.....

i;ve never eaten an actual tobasco pepper either.. ... but with all the other ingredients being the same as what is in most hot sauces i just assumed it must be the pepper itself making tobasco a little more sweet than other sauces..... .I was thinking you were going along those lines. My favorite peppers straight up are a toss up between the Thai pepper and a red ripe jalapeno. They represent the perfect combination of heat and flavor.
I will be "fortifying" my favorite chilli with some red jalapenos for our church's annual chilli feed next Sunday.
I recently tried salsa on a cheeseburger. It’s actually a great substitute for adding traditional tomatoes/onions/pickles/etc.we use a hot salsa with omelets....the same kind we use for tortilla chips.... . . although it often turns being more salsa on the plate than omelet..... we usually make our own salsa - but we also order it by the case full and keep it on hand ....so we won;t run out... ...... ..
in hawaii ketchup is known as "portugee gravy".... we don;t use it for much except to mix with other things to make specialty sauces.... in my opinion even french fries are better with a greek style garlic mayo sauce -.... the same one we make for calamari..

BTW, their habanero sauce has a good kick to it and it's loaded with flavor.![]()
Walmart used to have a hot sauce that was a mix of Tabasco and habanero peppers. It was tasty--like Tabasco sauce with an extra kick. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it on the shelves in a while and it's not on the Web site, so I fear it's been discontinued.
My everyday go-to hot sauce these days is Grace habanero sauce.
More of a specialty item--not sold in many stores, and more expensive. The Walmart stuff was a couple bucks--a real bargain, useful for just dumping on eggs, pizza, whatever you felt like without feeling too extravagant.Amazon.com : TABASCO Brand Habanero Sauce, Spicy & Fruity Habanero Hot Sauce, Bulk Plastic Jug, Jamaican-Style, Perfect for Large Recipes, Great on Jerk Chicken, Shrimp Kabobs, & More, 64 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) : Grocery & Gourmet Food
