The Worthless Thread for Specifically Increasing Post Numbers

I’ve always liked Texas Pete. I definitely wouldn’t call it sweet! It’ll make your mouth feel like 🔥
Hot sauce, even Tabasco, is a fairly recent thing for me. I didn't used to like Tabasco because of the vinegar but I have developed a taste for it. I do use it sparingly... Just enough to detect a zing on my lips which I enjoy. I preferred the sauces that didn't have vinegar but still didn't use them much. As I've gotten older, my taste buds aren't as sensitive, so I'm looking for something to wake them up. Tabasco, in small amounts, does that well. I'm also more tolerant of heat than I was even ten years ago.

Tabasco Sauce sweet? It's made from peppers, salt and vinegar.

it;s the pepper itself that has a sweet taste to it - in my opinion - when compared to other peppers...🌶️..

a really good hot sauce will do more than that.... it;ll clear your sinuses... after setting them on fire first of course..... but there is more to hot sauce than just fire.. .... it has to have a good flavor to it.... . :sneaky:

what i discovered in college was that most people eating hot sauce were doing it just for the burn and to show off to friends - bragging on how hot a sauce they could handle... .... when eating it for that reason the heat overwhelms a persos mouth so much that they can;t even taste the flavor...... ..kinda the same way wasabi and pure horse radish does people not accustomed to it.....😵‍💫

it all depends on what you are accustomed to.... what you grew up with.... and even to some degree what your ancestoral heritage is because that determines your genetics..... .. and genetics determine how your taste buds and digestive enzymes are initially set up..... and those help determine what your body will tolerate or even abhor when it comes to food..... .. ..as an example - that why people of some races from some cultures cannot tolerate milk while others can live on it......

I was thinking you were going along those lines. Having never tasted the Tabasco pepper itself, I cannot confirm or deny.

My favorite peppers straight up are a toss up between the Thai pepper and a red ripe jalapeno. They represent the perfect combination of heat and flavor.

I will be "fortifying" my favorite chilli with some red jalapenos for our church's annual chilli feed next Sunday.

For me, the purpose of the hot sauce is to enhance the existing flavor of whatever food item its applied to, not to be the actual flavor itself. Funny thing is, I’ve recently been researching a “spicy ketchup” brand offering. I often find myself wanting some items with a little ketchup, but then dabbing some Texas Pete to go along with the ketchup. I particularly tend to do this with our routine Saturday omelettes. Anyway, since I tend to either apply too much ketchup or too much hot sauce, I thought it was time to find a premixed combination. Maybe something like the pic above.

Definitely a must try. I love sri racha as it is.

Had a Filipino lady tell me I should drizzle sri racha and lemon juice on my plate. I did and the flavor combo was out of this world!

we use a hot salsa with omelets....the same kind we use for tortilla chips.... . . although it often turns being more salsa on the plate than omelet..... we usually make our own salsa - but we also order it by the case full and keep it on hand ....so we won;t run out... ...... ..

in hawaii ketchup is known as "portugee gravy".... we don;t use it for much except to mix with other things to make specialty sauces.... in my opinion even french fries are better with a greek style garlic mayo sauce -.... the same one we make for calamari.. 😋

i;ve never eaten an actual tobasco pepper either.. ... but with all the other ingredients being the same as what is in most hot sauces i just assumed it must be the pepper itself making tobasco a little more sweet than other sauces..... .

there is a restaurant chain here called zippys that locals think has good chili.. ... but in truth they don;t even know what chili is... they put peanut butter in it to make it sweeter....i don;t think it even has real chili powder or peppers in it.... .. we make our own chili whenever we decide to have it ... .. texas style firehouse chili..... 😋

I recently tried salsa on a cheeseburger. It’s actually a great substitute for adding traditional tomatoes/onions/pickles/etc.

BTW, their habanero sauce has a good kick to it and it's loaded with flavor. 😉👍

Walmart used to have a hot sauce that was a mix of Tabasco and habanero peppers. It was tasty--like Tabasco sauce with an extra kick. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it on the shelves in a while and it's not on the Web site, so I fear it's been discontinued.

My everyday go-to hot sauce these days is Grace habanero sauce.

You're welcome.

You're welcome.
More of a specialty item--not sold in many stores, and more expensive. The Walmart stuff was a couple bucks--a real bargain, useful for just dumping on eggs, pizza, whatever you felt like without feeling too extravagant.

Still, good to know. I didn't realize Tabasco's habanero sauce was a hab/tabasco blend, too.
