This Story Should Alarm You

that kind of thing has been happening for a while now..... .... i don;t know if you remember... and i can;t remember what city it was in.... but a few years ago a black ups driver beat an elderly man to death because he yelled out the "n" word while yelling at him to slow down...... witnesses said the driver was speeding down the street in a reckless manner.... ... but when the old man yelled at him he stopped his van.... jumped out and started punching him.. ........

in his hearing he admitted to beating the man until he was unconcious but showed no remorse....... he ended up not even being charged with a crime because the grand jury or judge.... (whichever it was)... deemed being called that kind of racial slur was justification for his violent reaction - even if it killed someone.....

I do remember hearing about that story. Who knows, I may have been the one to post it. Funny thing is, it’s almost like that story is deleted from Google itself now. I can’t find it anywhere. 🤔

Then there's this one, from 2021:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...hed-customer-sentenced-house-arrest-rcna19300

First, don't say the N-word. This isn't the 1930s.

Second, I don't care what letter it started with, harsh language shouldn't be a death penalty and retaliating with violence isn't justified. Western civilization is based on the rule of law. We don't do honour killings here.
That particular incident is a little more complicated. First, I agree that the sentence was completely way too light, but I can also understand the mitigating circumstances in which there was no intent to kill.

In my opinion, at least in the United States in which we have free speech, name calling should justify the customer being permanently trespassed from the business property, but it should never be excused by a judge or jury as an acceptable response for violence.

Simply unbelievable.

Nah. The perp's plea bargain should have been thrown out and it should have been tried as manslaughter. He didn't beat the guy half to death. His violence was the direct cause of the victim's death.
