Translations explained in 7 minutes

KJV is my main bible for reading, teaching, and preaching. The ESV is my "Alexandrian" version of choice and I use it mainly for study but also in Bible Studies to maintain continuity with our congregation who has adopted the ESV as the "official" bible.

It is not that IFBs take their King James Bibles too literally but that they are often biblically illiterate and cannot understand simple "King's English" and are too proud to admit it!

ESV is actually a revision of the RSV but is actually a great translation that stresses accuracy with readability.

You can get Johnny Mac's study bible in KJV, NKJV, NASB, and ESV. Mine is an ESV.

i use both king james version and new american standard for study.. ...usually side by side and cross reference them.. ...... then use a hawaiian language bible for sunday school... .. according to historians it was translated into the hawaiian language by the first missionaries to hawaii using a king james version bible.... so i guess that would make it another king james version equivalent..... .. .... i have occasionally used a reina-valera when out on visitation - depending on where we are going.. ...but i keep it in my backpack out there all the time anyway just in case..... it;s rare to come across spanish speaking only people in hawaii - but it has happened a few times..... . most of the time i just use my older king james bible for that coz things can get grimy out there... ....

Raised on KJV, my preference is ESV
my first bible was a gideons king james.... probably stolen from a hotel .... .i didn;t know who stole it - but i knew where it was in an extra room we used for a junk and storage ..... .. right after i got saved i went in there and found it - then read it and carried it as my regular bible until i came here to hawaii.... .... as far as i know it was left behind... ..it wasn;t among the things my sister hastily packed for me when she brought me here...... .

Many who are KJVO would make it almost a badge of honor that they can actual read the Kjv, even if they in places really have no understanding of what was really meant
