Do you have a favorite one for study?
my first bible was a gideons king james.... probably stolen from a hotel .... .i didn;t know who stole it - but i knew where it was in an extra room we used for a junk and storage ..... .. right after i got saved i went in there and found it - then read it and carried it as my regular bible until i came here to hawaii.... .... as far as i know it was left behind... ..it wasn;t among the things my sister hastily packed for me when she brought me here...... .Raised on KJV, my preference is ESV
Many who are KJVO would make it almost a badge of honor that they can actual read the Kjv, even if they in places really have no understanding of what was really meantKJV is my main bible for reading, teaching, and preaching. The ESV is my "Alexandrian" version of choice and I use it mainly for study but also in Bible Studies to maintain continuity with our congregation who has adopted the ESV as the "official" bible.
It is not that IFBs take their King James Bibles too literally but that they are often biblically illiterate and cannot understand simple "King's English" and are too proud to admit it!
ESV is actually a revision of the RSV but is actually a great translation that stresses accuracy with readability.
You can get Johnny Mac's study bible in KJV, NKJV, NASB, and ESV. Mine is an ESV.
