Is molestation the unforgivable sin?

It was a general statement about how Christians (sometimes myself included) only give lip-service to believing and applying the Bible, especially the parts that make us uncomfortable.

You don’t like the Bible and its difficult implications. It’s okay, you’re in plentiful company. I’ve witnessed the reluctance to rely upon the word by scores of (Christian) people over the years. Should a person who has been molested be open to forgiveness for their offenders?

If that’s what’s intended/meant then I completely agree.

That would be your prerogative, but the safeguards in the article linked covered the notion of making congregants aware. People choose not to come to churches for a whole host of reasons, some more Biblically warranted than others. You seem more interested in vengeance than any Biblical solution.

But doesn’t the notion of rebuking those who persist in sin denote that there’s credible knowledge of that sin? And wouldn’t that context be within the authority and structure of the church?

I find it an awkward way to state (by the “IFB” in your scenario) that the depth of our sinful depravity is only tempered by the grace of God, but it’s nonetheless at least partially true.
