Anybody following the unrest in Ferguson Missouri?

Neither were the ones who showed up at Bundy's ranch.

There's surely a ditch on both sides.  We want liberty, AND security.  I fully acknowledge that we must guard our freedoms from tyrannical fascism.  What is happening in Ferguson doesn't rise to the level of the defense of liberty IMHO, but rather smacks of opportunists and race baiters having their day.  Some/many of the protestors are sincere, in that they want accountability, but if due process was allowed to run its course before they over-reacted I'd have more sympathy.  As it stands right now, the officer's account shows some evidence that this wasn't a "hands up, don't shoot" kinda incident.

I'm sure more eye witnesses will come forward or have already been interviewed, but so far 3 witnesses...one with some cell phone video footage agree that the officer shot a man that had turned around to surrender. Of course all the police evidence isn't being released.  I generally stand with police and give them the benefit of doubt, but this one has me wondering.

We had an interesting case here in Columbia about two decades ago...white officer shot and killed a young black man.  About a dozen witnesses all claimed that the black man never pointed a gun at the police officer.  The officer said he shot twice, the witnesses said he only shot once.  When all the evidence was released the officer was telling the truth and the dozen witnesses all lied. The office did shoot twice, in fact the first bullet went into the barrel of the gun that all the witnesses claimed he never pointed at the officer.

All that to say this...witnesses can and do lie.

It's pointless to come to any conclusions until all the hard evidence is in.  And even then, it's up to due process, not public opinion.

It just aggravates me when people paint this as a white cop vs. innocent black kid epidemic.  If you watch the video with Bill Whittle, you'll see that if there is any kind of epidemic of racist murder, it's black on white murder, not the other way around.  But since it doesn't fit the media or Marxist narrative, few people know the facts.

Which doesn't in any way justify jumping to conclusions and consequently rioting, all in the name of justice.

Agreed,

Not of those arrested were not from Ferguson.

The Bill Whittle video made me realize why the media goes crazy over stories like this one and the Trayvon incident.  Black people kill black people all the time.  And black-on-white crime is pretty common, too.  There's nothing newsworthy about those things.

On those rare occasions where a white person kills a black person, now that's a big story!

ere is one thing we know for sure. White on black shootings get a whole lot more attention that black on white shootings.  The media is racist and always has been.  I quit supporting their garbage years ago, you should too.

I don't really see where that makes much difference, being that I was referencing the attention by the media. I am not a blind friend of police by any stretch of the imagination. I have known a couple who are as crooked as can be. I hate it when I get a speeding ticket in some speed trap, etc.  However, I believe that there is almost zero chance of a person getting hurt/shot, etc. if they do exactly what the police tell them to do. As aggressive/overbearing as they may be, it is just dumb to fight it.  Do what they say, keep your mouth shut and live.
How many minorities ever get charged with hate crimes? How many white people loot stores when justice is obviously not done, ie. O.J. Simpson, et al.?  There is obviously a double standard. I choose not to support the liberal, God-hating, ignorant media.
Over and out.

ok...... so, out of all those black male perpetrators.... how many of them were released without charges being filed?....  ??? .... and were any of them police officers or off duty federal agents?.......  ???
This does change the dynamic.

I blame their training, coupled with the anarchist upbringing that innercity youth have now.

Keyed up cops trying to get an angry man to comply?
Recipe for disaster.

OTOH, anyone involved in rioting, who gets killed in the act...shoulda seen that coming.  You are definitely freaking people out, so don't be shocked if they overreact.

When I used to go out bangin, I didn't call a press conference when they stomped me into the squad car, or firehosed me, or put the K9 on me.

I just told the stories of what happened to the drunks in the tank, and waited for Monday.

maybe it doesn;t make a difference... if your post was just a random out of the blue contribution...... but if you were answering or following up what i wrote then it does make a difference because i wasn;t referencing the liberal, God hating, ignorant media at all..... but rather an objective observer of the unrest in ferguson who was simply turning on the cameras and letting them run.....

and aren;t you one of those who says.... and rightly so.... that members of the clergy should be held to a higher standard on issues of morality?........ why then wouldn;t you want police officers to be held to a higher standards on issues of restraint... professionalism... and abuse of their power?...... we all hate crooked law enforcement officers....... but assuming the attitude that there is nothing we can do about it but keep our mouths shut and live... is no different than keeping quiet in a church were a pastor is a sexual predator in order to keep peace and not stir up trouble......

and is it really just dumb to fight it?....... wasn;t standing against wrongful use and abuse of power how this nation started?.......

You make some good points for sure. I do think pastors should be held to a higher standard of morality because they know better.  Not so sure the police know better, but that is up for debate.  The "nothing we can do about it" was meant in the context of once you are in a situation of being caught for a possible crime, there isn't much you can do on the scene. I agree that we should be concerned about abuse by police, but I believe it is not as wide spread as some would have us believe. Maybe I am wrong. I view the militarization of law enforcement a bit differently. Their guns look bad, but in many cases they are out-gunned or at least equally armed. I am sure my point of reference may be because I have a lot of weapons and many look a whole lot worse than they really are.  My .02, thanks for your point of view. Got me to thinking.

A young white man brutally stabbed a black man in Pensacola yesterday. There are talks of riots.

Nothing like a good old riot with looting and destruction to achieve justice.

When white people get mad they burn sofas in the street. Oh wait, that is when their team wins the big football game. Never mind.

This is how social change happened through most of human history.

Just ask the english about 1776 or the French about 1789, the Tsar’s about 1905 or  or the Shah about 1978. Unrest often leads to change. I just wonder how close we are as a nation to civil revolt.

Generally, however, the revolt is against the people responsible for the problems.  Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention, but I don't get the impression the local businesses and local residents were responsible for Brown's death.  In other words, this isn't about enacting social change.  It's about spoiled rotten welfare recipients having fun destroying property and getting free stuff.

did these "talks of riots"....  come from the same source .... the mysterious.. "person from st louis" ..... who claimed a three year old white girl shot by stray bullets during a crime unrelated to the riots.. was actually "shot as a retaliation"..?... ???

Well, probably "a person in Pensacola." It's amazing what our biases will cause us to believe, no?

I searched and searched after Admin's first post, and couldn't even find a racist blogger to substantiate his story, let alone a legitimate news article. That's either an incredibly efficient cover-up, or "horse hockey" as Col. Sherman T. Potter would say.

Wow. Out of the overflow of the heart, huh?

Please, continue to share with us your antipathy toward the poor and marginalized, so we can be more Christ-like like you.

Well, then maybe you can explain how stealing items from businesses and then burning them down works toward solving poverty and oppression in the black community.  And, please, by all means explain how those businesses are responsible for their oppression and poverty.  I'm all ears.
