LMAO the state troopers last night did not try to stop the crowd from looting, they pulled back and let the stores be ransacked. I guess the black captain of the highway patrol is not the answer after all.

Why does this matter at all?

Let's see. They presented a black guy that would be taking charge of the situation. Hope and change was promoted for everything to be better. We have heard that story before, 2nd verse just like the 1st.

And if he was green?

There will continue to be a problem with race relations in this country until ALL sides stop defining people by how they look.

The irony in all this is our post-racial president has been highly divisive on skin color.  And deliberately so, IMO.

The Feds are sending in Eric Holder...Everything will be ok now... ::)

I would agree.  Right now,  he contributes to the problem,  not the solution.

Militarization of our police force may be a legitimate concern, even more troublesome than the politicization and racial politics going on, but that don't minimize the sad state of affairs where the rule of law is ignored by gangs of thugs, all while the able-bodies and well armed enforcement agencies sit idly by and let innocent citizens and businessmen be terrorized.  To ignore those issues is to create a false dichotomy.

what many people in ferguson are saying..... even those not involved in the riots.... is that it was the police departments heavy handed over reaction... to what had started out as peaceful vigils for the young man killed by police... that sparked the rioting and looting which followed in the first place........... .....and once a firestorm like that is started..... you don;t quench it by simply having a police officer of the same race as the looters... lead a group of equally able bodied and well armed law enforcement into town.. dressed in the same battle gear as the first group was..... and say .... "ok everybody... we are all going to play nice now.... "......... ....

that;s the lesson they learned this weekend when the riots started up again....... ... but they had to at least give it a chance to work.... or give something a chance to work........ would you rather see more people killed and gunned down in ferguson just so the "rule of law" can appear to have been upheld?......... where was the rule of law when a police officer fired multiple shots at an unarmed suspect who was running away with his hands in the air?.......isn;t shooting at an unarmed fleeing suspect illegal?.... (never mind one with his hands in the air).... ... i know it;s illegal for police here in hawaii..... and many people are saying that if the police department had handled that questionable shooting appropriately..... and if they had not over reacted with a "break heads and leave them bleeding" approach to the protests that followed....... then it;s quite possible none of this rioting we are seeing now would have happened...........

and i;m not justifying what the rioters are doing....... i agree wholeheartedly with what the guy in the video rogue tomato posted is saying...... but with power comes even greater responsibility....... in my opinion american police departments have been given way too much of one... without demonstrating they could exercise the other........... and as a result they have given a large portion of the american public the impression that they have declared war on us......... and that should be unsettling to all americans....no matter who you are......

78 people arrested last night, and only 4 from the town of Ferguson.  People need to go home and let due process work.  In Detroit not long ago a young black woman, stoned out of her mind, wrecked her car in the early morning hours.  She stumbled onto a doorstep of a house, began banging on it incessantly.  She needed help, but was too drunk/stoned to know what to do.  A white man inside came to the door with a shotgun, opened his front door and blew her away (later claiming to fear for his life, but not having called 9*1*1).  Absolutely tragic.  Nobody rioted.  The court proceedings occurred, and he was convicted of murder.  That's how it should work, and usually does.  What the people of Ferguson are doing is not helping their cause.

I'm reading Jeff Shaara's Rise to Rebellion. The book starts in 1770 with the Boston Massacre and chronicles the years and events leading up to the onset of hostilities. The story is told through the eyes of Ben Franklin, John Adams and General Howe. I see a lot of similarities between the attitude of the Crown and its minions and our govt on all levels. I also see a lot of similar attitudes with the people of the 1770's and those of today. Citizens met the threat of force with a threat of greater force at the Bundy ranch. That situation almost resulted in a fire fight. Now you see open defiance of govt force in Ferguson. If things continue as the are it's only a matter of time until a large number of people on both sides wind up dead.

The people looting in Ferguson are no Franklin, Adams, or Howe.

http://www.westernjournalism.com/black-journalist-exposes-the-root-problem-with-the-michael-brown-shooting/

“I don’t want to litigate this in the press that the officer used excessive force, I think he should be prosecuted, but let’s not pretend our morgues and cemeteries are full of young black men because cops are shooting them,” he said. “The reality is that it’s because other black people are shooting them, and we need to talk about black criminality.”

The author of “Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make It Harder For Blacks to Succeed” continued:

“Blacks are only 13 percent of the population, but they’re 50 percent of homicide victims in this country and 90 percent of these victims are killed by other black people.”

This guy is obviously racist.

The bulk of the crowd in Ferguson bears a striking similarity to the crowd at the Boston massacre. Their handlers seriously remind me Samuel Adams and his manipulation of public opinion and crowds.
There's also the standoff at the Bundy ranch. The threat of armed force was met with a threat of equal or superior armed force. Nobody really cared whether Bundy actually owed the grazing fees. It was a chance to face down the powers that be and the crowd won. Will they win next time? How long before somebody pulls a trigger?

The store owners who are being looted could be greedy capatalists who seek to make a profit....in that case they are getting what they deserve.

The gentile giant was only fighting greed and evil capitalism when he strong armed the convenience store. Thank god we have Eric Holder and Obama.....the locals are all racist and capitalists!!

Seems like a lot of the police scanner reports tonight have to do with looting one or more beauty shops or salons.  Ferguson is going to have some gorgeous criminals by the time this is all over.

If this happened in Texas I wonder if the store owners would be within their legal rights to shoot the looters? If so the criminals would look lovely in their coffins with their stolen beauty supply makeups.

Neither were the ones who showed up at Bundy's ranch.
