Are the police the real criminals?

There we go! There's the underlying hatred of police we have been waiting for!

Now... why would a Reconstructionist worry about the Constitution, anyways? (Which actually gives foundation to a police force by restraining their power see 4th amendment)

Is Romans 13 a disposable passage to the Reconstructionist?

...there?s one key issue where it turns out protesters and law enforcement officers overwhelmingly agree: Bad cops aren?t held accountable.

Seventy-two percent of U.S. police officers do not believe that officers who consistently do a poor job are held accountable, according to a new Pew Research Center survey conducted by the National Police Research Platform.

Asked whether they agreed with the idea that officers who consistently do a poor job are held accountable, 47 percent of officers disagreed and 25 percent strongly disagreed. Barely one-quarter of officers surveyed either agreed or strongly agreed that officers who do a poor job are held accountable (24 percent agreed, while just 3 percent strongly agreed).

The majority of officers, 53 percent, either disagreed or strongly disagreed that the disciplinary process at their agency is fair, while a combined 46 percent agreed or strongly agreed that it is fair.

If only there were a way to have the Twilight Zone theme play when recovering posts about the constitution or Smellin posts about anything related to Scripture.

If we are talking Constitution, most entire police forces are..

Not true, many of the states Constitutions had security set that the citizenry were responsible for security. An executive officer of the law that had the power to execute judgment, issue arrest warrants and the decision to take life would have been offensive to the framers.
What was "not true"?

Oops! I misread your comment. You were  agreeing with. My apologies.
OK.
I thought I was losing it...

How is this disrespectful? Please explain.

It seems to be an overgeneralization implying that all police are criminals, similar to the ploy of BLM.  The police didn't write the law, they only enforce it, whether you and I agree or not with the principle of the law.
AsTeisted said earlier, when "good cops" are silent, they are as guilty. I have been reading and studying up on  original state constitutions that state that the responsibility of securities fell directly on the citizens. They were to be armed and used by the courts and officer of the courts to handle and administer justice. We have now had an executive police force that has the power to make a decision over life and death.  A power that was not originally granted to them in the Constitution.

Nothing wrong with proper questioning of the status quo, and ensuring there is accountability for law enforcement is good and proper, but to suggest that by and large we are policed by criminals, well, it's disrespectful of the freedoms you and I are affored everyday by those who put their lives on the line for those freedoms.

There are around 1 million police officers in the United States, around 750,000 full time and around 100,000 part time (excluding federal agents).

How many police are violently killed.
Looking at the 10 years from 2006 to 2015 the annual average number of police deaths was 49.6. The all-time high was the 10-year period prior to 1980, when we had an average of 115 officers feloniously killed in the line of duty every year
The deaths were 7.3 per 100,000 in the 10 years to 2013 compared to 24 per 100,000 in the 10 years to 1980. Some of the improvement is attributed to the wide scale use of body armor by nearly every police force.

How about the number of cases where police shoot suspects.
According to the FBI, over the past decade, the average number police shooting counted was about 400. In 2015 & 2016 that average was closer to 900.

There are more police officers on the street than ever before, with the average number of arrests climbing each year. It stands to reason, with our violent, society the number of suspects who will resist arrest and be killed will increase as well.
So you willingly give over your rights to the police? even though they are not Constitutionally legal?

This might be legitimate claim for federal agents but police are local and state. They are not federal so they are not specifically defined, limited or governed by the US Constitution.

I think Police and other first responder's are generally under paid and serve the communities they serve in with honesty and distinction. I think there are a select few that abuse their position and they need to be dealt with according to the law.

To categorize police officers in general as criminals because of the abuses by a small minority is patently wrong.

Whatever freedoms we have are of God Himself. I don't thank police for said freedoms. That is more of the work of God using His purposes for whatever He wills.

All blessings and goodness are ultimately from above, but just because we recognize the primary cause for goodness doesn't mean that we don't acknowledge the proximate means that God use to accomplish His will, otherwise we would likewise demonstrate a callousness towards the parents that God gave us for protection and nurturing.  Honor and respect is due our parents, even though God is the first cause of things.  I'm thankful to our military that I'm not saying "Heil Hitler" right now, all the while recognizing that it's God's providential hand that ultimately is responsible for my liberty.  Both avenues of thankfulness are appropriate.
