To be "tempted" has more than one related meaning: for example, to be tested, or to be enticed by one's desires. The same is true of the Greek term peiraizo which is translated "tempt."

Context determines which meaning is intended. In Hebrews 4:15, it says, "We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." If Jesus was tempted, but did not sin, then "tempted" here obviously means "tested," as clearly he was not enticed by his desires. And indeed Jesus was tempted in this way: by Satan in the wilderness, by the Pharisees who tried to entrap him in his words. Jesus knew this kind of temptation. He had firsthand knowledge of it.

On the other hand, James 1:13-14 says, "God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire." It means a mere man can be enticed to behave inappropriately. God cannot.

So Jesus knew what it was like to be tempted by men, but he was not lured into sin by their putting him to the test. There's no contradiction--just your own poor understanding.

This is a good thing. If Jesus could sin, he would be an inadequate saviour who couldn't atone for his own sins, let alone anyone else's.

I’m thinking he might be a JW. My understanding is they reject the Trinity, but I can’t envision those people cursing up a storm like he did. Saved or not, they’re usually very conservative and mild mannered.

Most likely trolling. Like you said, no practicing JW violates their laws carelessly.

that whole thing was very weird... from the name he chose - to his comment about attending both congregational and catholic churches.... ... i started to post a reply until i saw that.. ..and then i realized this is a troll who has been watching us for a long time.. ..he knew exactly what threads what he wanted to reply to and went directly to specfic posts in those threads... ..like you say - probably out for some friday night kicks..... ... ... but on the sort of bright side... the whole mess increased forum activity dramatically ..... and he managed to bring calvinists and non-calvinists on the forum together - all united against him....

and not the first time that has happened either.... might even be a former fff member.... . i can think of several off hand that were once prolific posters on the fff who turned apostate and returned to wreak havoc..... . but those are only the ones who kept the same forum name they had before... . if they changed that name and kept their former identity secret then we can only guess who they were or might have been...... but the story is almost always the same.... anger.. bitterness.. and combative even against those who were not trying to provoke or confront them.... ..basically angry at God..... but their real enemy is themselves... ..how do we make them see that?.....

There's still enough of his material to get an idea of what he was saying. It was shaping up to be a classic FFF showdown when all of a sudden he began cussing ALAYMAN and others out. A real "when the argument is lost, club them over the head" kind of thing.

Since I was first moderator on the scene, I immediately deleted the offending posts and informed Muckah that such behavior is not allowed. His response to me was another profanity laced tirade so I deleted both message and messenger. 😔
