Billy Graham: Why The Hate?

I believe "hate" is the wrong word.  Graham's compromise with moderates, liberals and Rome is well documented.  If someone came forward during a crusade with a RC background, they would pair them with a RC counselor.  Why would Bible-believers promote such things?

I attended a Graham crusade in San Diego in 1976.  It was something to see and observe.

So did Billy Sunday!  I was shocked when I found that out but true.

Wow!  Billy S. was at the Graham crusade in '76?  Wow!

Graham's statement to Schuller is  not outside of mainstream evangelical beliefs...or Romans 2. I wouldn't say the same about Schuller. If there be any doubt about Graham one should consider 70+ years of orthodoxy on salvation vs. ONE statement they disagree with. He has made clear many times that Jesus is the only way.The statement in question is not exclusive of that long-held position.

To answer the question in the OP... because Billy Sunday did some of the same things that Graham was crucified for I believe much of the criticism came from his leaving BJU,  much to the consternation of BJ Sr. who told him he would never amount to anything and because he purposely integrated his meetings in the South with the help of MLK.  This was extremely controversial with some.

And my explanation (again, not saying this is what Graham was thinking, but it could be) harmonizes the statements quite well.  Jesus is the only way.  And Jesus saves.  But that doesn't make what he said wrong.

Franklin Graham is now heavily involved with TBN's prosperity preaching just his dad was. Tony Hutson and Larry Brown are famous IFB comedians and they always make light of Billy Graham and Franklin just like Jack Hyles and Jack Schaap were outspoken against John MacArthur.

TBN? I'm pretty sure Graham preached his message long before TBN had anything to do with much of anything.

Graham began endorsing TBN in the 90's and now Franklin swears by it and that's why Jack Hyles, Tony Hutson, Larry Brown, and Jack Trieber have never had nice things to say about the Grahams.

Provide the evidence.

"Famous" IFB  comedians.  LOL!!!

Of course neither Billy or Franklin have ever been "prosperity preachers" but they have always been TBN-friendly, Franklin much more than his dad. Typically the charismatic networks  would use any appearance as a de facto endorsement.

Graham I know.
TBN I know.
Hyles is dead, I know.

Larry Brown, Tony Hutson and Jack Trieber hardly anyone knows.
I'm pretty sure Graham has no idea who they are much less what they might think of him.

Some people in the IFB world remind me of the rooster who actually thought the sun couldn't rise if he didn't crow.....

Graham was heavily criticized (especially by Tony Hutson, Jack Trieber, and Jack Hyles)

Since when do the opinions of Hutson, Treiber and Hyles matter beyond a  ten-foot radius of their persons?

Well, Graham has to be completely innocent of all compromise since Hutson, Trieber and Hyles are against him.  Great circular logic.

Great straw man. I didn't ask whether Graham was innocent of all compromise. I asked why I should give a care about the opinions of the three clowns.

You're right, it is a straw man that you like to prop up at every chance you get.

It's clear you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Billy Graham has been yoked up with Rome for most of the time that he has been in ministry. Billy Graham's compromise can be traced back to 1944 with his friendship to Fulton Sheen, a roman Catholic priest. Furthermore, there are a number of Bible believing ministers that have put out sermon messages detailing the depth of Billy Graham's compromise and his working with the Roman Catholic church.

And the fact that he called the wicked devil, Pope John Paul II a "great evangelist" shows the utter compromise and deep level of apostasy of Mr. Graham.

Brother Greg Miller of Bible Believers Fellowship up in Worthington, Ohio did a great Expose on Billy Graham. I recommend that you take time to listen to the series.

Did "Brother Greg" also do an expose on Billy Sunday for sending converts in his crusades back to Catholic churches?  Just wondering...

And the fact that you called the first lady, Michelle Obama a "man" shows the utter craziness and deep level of gullibility of you.

Billy Sunday sending converts back to the Catholic church?

Got any documentation for this?

I am aware that he did avoid criticizing of the Roman Catholic church and popery directly. And of course he was wrong for doing that. Sunday should have preached hard against the evils of Roman Catholicism and the wicked and vile Papacy.

Now I also have heard that at some of his meetings there were members of some elite groups also present, but that Sunday still preached hard on Hell and Damnation even with those elitists there.

I'll have to go back and find it. Pretty sure I posted it here in the past.

What "elite groups" do you allude to but not name?
