Bob Gray is concerned.

Misinformed about what?  The lunch menu at the college for the week?

Most likely regarding Bob Gray's allegation of Chappell supposedly preaching at an "SBC" church.

That's not it as Chappell is preaching at an SBC church.

I ask again, in this current climate, does preaching at an SBC church require you to return your 'rock ribbed fundamentalist' card?

The event being held at an SBC church makes you a compromiser as much as having Pastor's School in the Hammond Civic Center makes you a Hammond government employee.

It's a venue.  A building to meet in.

Now "why" you're there and with "whom" you are speaking with might raise some issues.

Once again, fake news. It is not a Bible conference and the event was cancelled earlier as well.

Typical liberals not doing their research and seeing that it's not a live event.

Maybe you?re right...BUT the fact that he accepted an invitation to go into that cesspool automatically rescinds his ?rock ribbed fundamentalist? credentials! And, he may be the subject of future blog entries decrying his compromise!!!

Bob Gray is the defender of the door to rock ribbed Fundamentalism in the right wing.
Tom Brennan is the defender of said door in the left wing.

Southern Baptist, Paul Chappell, Josh Teis, the Dixie Chicks and anyone who owns a perversion of the Scriptures (not used as a prop while preaching a KJVO sermon) are without the doors.

I wonder what BG would say about me?  I'm and HAC grad and Independent Baptist Pastor and I once preached a revival with nothing but Methodists and Cumberland Presbyterians in attendance.  A group of Baptist friends came the last night and sat in the back though :) In fact, less than 10 years ago, I preached weekly at a Cumberland Presbyterian Church (where I group up) every Sunday Morning for 2 years.  We had service at 10:00 and then I went down the street and led singing at the IB church at 11:00.
I'll preach to anyone who is willing to listen as long as I have liberty to speak!

Isn't it odd that Cruz takes no flak for eating with Fugate?

And no one complains to those other speakers about speaking on the same program at Chappell?

Would it be wrong for a rock ribbed, true believer IFB to preach in a regular Sunday morning service at the SBC church I pastor?

Depends on the love offering.

I know the answer even though, for some reason, you are hesitant to state it.
But you, Tom and old Bob are rock ribbed fundamentalists.
Amen and amen!

The issue in this thread is something that I have brought up to friends and even family. I see IFB guys going to Washington and praying with and having speakers at the Capitol Connection that are not IFB. Chappell has been on Todd Starnes show and Todd is a faithful SBC man. Here it is.....Its fine to be in unity for political events but it is not for gospel events! Really makes me want to puke and what a joke! IFB hypocrisy is beyond comical and unbiblical!

The said event was a political rally that happens to be held at a church. Geez do people not read any information or are they that ignorant.

J Frank Norris, arguably the grand daddy of the militant IFB wing, would yolk up with many unsavory characters as long as their common enemy of Communism was the target.  The political expediency of such ventures was for the good of our nation, at least as he saw it at the time.  The simple truth, whether you agree with that sort of alliance for those political purposes or not, is that Norris felt like he could have such relationships while affecting the greater moral good in society all the while not allowing those unsavory political alliances to have any sway over his ecclesiastical affairs.  I don't disagree with that notion.  Just because a preacher works in the civic domain by forging less than ideal partnerships doesn't mean such relationships will corrupt his doctrinal teaching to the flock.

Similar to how conservative Christians overwhelmingly voted and probably will again for maybe the least personally moral man to ever occupy the executive office? Now it makes sense - kind of.

What does that matter? Who cares if it is in a church or parking lot?  Joining together for politics but not the gospel!
