T-Bone, R-IFB, nowhere did I say not to have a meal with an unsaved person, or a person not attending all the church services. Nowhere. Ever. We use our house to have others over including unsaved to better get to know them so we can hopefully influence them for the Lord.

We do not however allow the unsaved to participate in the ordinances. There are things we with hold from them. T-Bone, do you allow those you assume to be unsaved at the Lords table or do you "invite them in so you don't appear to be an extreme fundy?" If you exclude them, aren't you guilty of what you accuse me of?

R-IFB, do you view the supper in Matthew 9:10 to be the same as the supper in Matthew 26:26-27?

BTW, the topic was about children, not adults.
No, but that's not my point, I am saying that Jesus met with people where they were in their lives. Having to tell people to meet us on our terms is riddiculous and uncaring. They call it outreach for a reason; we go to people and meet them where they are. Tom's point is akin to saying " get your life right before you get saved"
Do you ever dwell on the concept of God? Who he is? What he has done? Do you realize he humbled himself to leave Heaven to put on human flesh? Until you realize that, I don't beleive you can truly see unbelievers in the proper veiw.
Remember R-IFB, Tom was not making the point about you or I, he was making the point about his kids. His facebook post said this
If you want your kids to be close friends with our kids then bring your kids to church every service. Every single service. We'll work hard as parents to make sure our kids aren't snobby to anybody but church comes first in our family. Every single service.

That's all. Carry on.
Nothing in this remotely suggests that Tom was saying we should not reach people where they are. This was an issue about protecting his kids. By putting it the way you did, you are making it sound as if you advocate sending your kids irregardless of their age out into the neighbourhood (the context of Toms facebook post) without discretion because that's what Jesus did, he hung out with everyone in town (the context of your post). If you are, that's crazy The two are not related, they are separate issues, one for an adult, the other for a child.

I will answer the question you gave to me...I don't exclude anyone from the Lord's Table.  I teach what the table is about then encourage each person to do what the Apostle Paul says, "let each person examine themselves, then let them eat..."  If we truly believe that the table is the Lord's, not the local church or a denominations, then who ever belongs to The Lord is welcome at His table...that is between them and The Lord, not my place to figure out who should be excluded.
The Lord excluded Judas. Paul told Corinth to exclude the one in open sin.
Its His table...He can exclude anyone He wants to...where did Paul exclude anyone from the Lord's table?
I never said Paul excluded anyone, I actually never see Paul at the Lords table, I said Paul told Coring to exclude someone. 1 Corinthians 5:1-13. "Put away" Remove, ban, prohibit, exclude. The exclusion would have included 1 Corinthians 11.

Only a pastor could draw a connection between these two points.  Putting someone away, banning them, prohibiting them would exclude them from singing in the choir, too.  But I wouldn't put it that way.  Nor would I try to justify it Biblically with 1 Cor 5.

If I said "Paul told Corinth to exclude [from choir] the one in open sin" based on 1 Cor 5, I'd be (rightfully) laughed off the planet.

As usual on the FFF, rabbit chasing is the norm.

Anybody who does not do some kind of filtering on who their kids hang out with, well, hate to say it, but they're an idiot.
This I will agree with.

But, the best way to learn those kids, is to let them come around, become part of their parents lives, do business with them, help meet their needs when you can, and be the neighborhood "safe house".

Many of our children's playmates are born again, and growing in Grace, because we let them play with our kids.

We've never lived anywhere long, but where our neighbors began to follow Christ.

Of course we pay attention, and restrict the interaction with evil, haughty, or rebellious kids, but we don't demand that they "come to church",  to be treated as humans.
When they are born again, then God will tell them to fellowship with the other believers, and they will assemble with us.

Of course, the Protestants taught us to fill our Assemblies with unbelievers.

There is a lot of meat here.

Let's see....  Tom posted on facebook a statement about where your kids can find his kids if they want to hang out.  SFL goes nuts accusing him of not being willing to reach the lost.  Posters here get into a discussion about whether or not we should allow unbelievers to take part in the Lord's Supper.

SQUIRREL!!!

Every normal parent provides some measure of guidance, nourishment and protection for their child.  Those who don't are arrested for neglecting their child.  Most likely, we all have different guidelines for what we allow our children to do based on their age and level of maturity.  This is a parenting issue that is personal to a particular family, not a theological issue of reaching the lost.  SFL has no more right to question the standards that a father sets for his home than any Mog has the right to mandate my attire.

Nothing in this remotely suggests that Tom was saying we should not reach people where they are. This was an issue about protecting his kids. Joseph protected Jesus by taking him to Egypt, Jesus was found in the temple when lost at 12 years of age, not "with publicans and sinners", that was not until he was 30+ years old, a very different matter.

By putting it the way you did, you are making it sound as if you advocate sending your kids irregardless of their age out into the neighbourhood (the context of Toms facebook post) without discretion because that's what Jesus did, he hung out with everyone in town (the context of your post). thats not what I read, If you want your kids to be friends with his kids, then you have to go to their church, every service. Im not saying that we  neglect our kids in any way, where did you see that? Like I posted earlier this is akin to having people cleaning up their act before they come to the Lord instead of meeting people where they are. BTWwe try and encourage our kids to be friendly to all kids. They have to go live in the world, hiding them from other kids in the neighborhood doesn't help them to see the real world.
