With that rationale the Clark family can't use the KJV b/c it is also used by some SGM groups... His reasoning, if it is to be consistent, must be applied to everything - which shows you the fallibility of Cloud's reasoning. What someone does with a song that I happen to sing too has no bearing on whether I should sing it. Elvis sang How Great Thou Art. Does that mean I can't? etc. etc.

Possibly. He writes appreciatively of their stands for many things. It is his fear that "light" Southern Gospel leads to "heavy" Southern Gospel (my terms, not his), which leads into full-blown CCM.
I can state that I am seeing a move in this direction; churches that used to preach against SGM and CCM now use it.
I routinely heard preaching against the Cathedrals growing up; now, they are what many a pastor & his family listen to.
"Big Enough" is one of my favorite Southern Gospel songs, but since David Cloud is the 'expert' and I'm just a lowly, uninformed worm, I guess I'll have to remove it, along with about 200 other Southern Gospel songs, from my iPod Nano. :

Many years ago I heard an IFB pastor say that he was concerned with so many of the young pastors who came to his state to start churches and so many fail. He said one of the things he did not understand was that so many of these guys were so separated that they could only have fellowship with their wife and 3 kids and they were not even too sure they should hang around their wives!
