Last week several female guards brought a law suit against Illinois because prisoners were exposing themselves in front of them as well as committing lewd acts.  By no means am I justifying the acts of the inmates, but should a female take a job that puts her in this situation?

It's a job that pays the bills... you don't always get to pick what happens ...

I am with Sherry on this one. I am guessing these are jobs that pay decent and have good benefits.

Female or male inmates exposing themselves?

Regardless, this is part of the job.  They knew it when they took it.

I've been in prison lock-down units where the showers are in plain view for all the guards.

Time to suck it up, snowflake guards.  Do your job.

Equal rights, should men guards bring a lawsuit as well?

Yes, they are jobs with good pay and benefits.

BINGO!  I believe that the current number of sexual harassment cases that are in the news is creating some of this.

It would appear that the issue is inmates exposing themselves and committing lewd acts because they are women.  The question is should the prison administration being doing something about this behavior.

Let's see....maybe they can lock'em up.

You are smart enough to know that within prison there are rewards and punishment to motivate behavior.

Smart enough and experienced.  I've been in lock-down units (they are there primarily as punishment) and seen inmates taunt guards when showering.  What's next?  Electro-shock?

I was there once when an inmate was being prepped to be released.  The language out of his mouth and the threats he made about what he was going to do when he got out caught my attention.  The guards have the look on them that says, "kill him now".  But they put up with it.

Free speech and all.

With the possibility of being labeled a "sexist" I will say that there are some jobs in which the opposite sex should not be involved.

So the piece we do not know is how the prison administration was handling the prisoners in regards to the women guards. Was it equal or was there something that could have been done.

You are welcome to your opinion but the women who needs to make sure here kids are taken care of financially, needs the benefits and wants to retire with a decent pension will look at it differently than you.

Get with the program.  Boys are showering with girls in elementary school and using each other's bathrooms.

What school is this happening?  What does it have to do with the topic under discussion?

I realize that they look at it differently than me.  I'm sure that some drug dealers feel the same way.

Radar I have no issue with you disagreeing with me but that comparison is stupid. Prison guards are a necessary job for the well being of society. Drug dealers belong in the prison being guarded. They are detriment to society.

You make a good point.  Would you agree that there are some jobs that a woman who wants to make sure her kids are taken care of financially should not take?

My standard for women is the same as it is for men. Work the job you want/need as long it is legal, moral and ethical.
