Well, after being taught in Seminary, hearing hundreds of preachers say, and reading so many margin footnotes saying:
"A better translation would be," "That wasn't in the oldest and most reliable transcripts", "The translators should not have...", etc. etc. etc.
When you have translations leaving out entire verses and saying things that diametrically oppose other translations:
When you have a version of the month club, what happens?
A distrust, a lack of interest, a weakening of the truth, or worst of all: Confusion.
Can you blame the preachers for not trusting their Bibles?
They've been taught otherwise...
Can you blame the people for not hungering and wanting to hear sound doctrine?
When there is no final authority, there is NO real authority.
Let's not even consider KJVO.
How about saying, the NIV is THE word of God?
How about the NKJV?
What about the NCV, the RSV or the ASV?
No one will and no one wants to.
The watering down of the truth from multiple versions is reaching its inevitable conclusion: "Yea, hath God said?"
No wonder the lethargy.
Climbing off my soap box now.
