We've already seen on two other threads that grace provides the ability to succeed at God's work. Grace comes from humility, and humility comes from submission to God and to His people.

We've also seen that every Christian has a spiritual gift, and that using that gift edifies the church. Furthermore, you are told to seek more spiritual gifts, especially prophecy, which enables you to comfort, exhort, and edify, but not rule the saints.

Wisdom is another tool for success in God's work:

Proverbs 4:7-9 tells us "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you."

 
Ecc 1:16  I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
Ecc 1:17  And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
Ecc 1:18  For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

Totally agree with this but I think you are wasting your time with Vince. He thinks the apostle Paul should get advice from him. ;)
 
If you are going to tell us how to succeed then you must also tell us what success looks like in God's work.
 
Praise, you raise a valid point. There are problems with being blessed by God. Nehemiah was blessed with success in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, but it cost him a lot. The book of Acts shows that problems that the Apostles had when God blessed them with a rapidly-growing church.

If God grants a Christian wisdom, that Christian will have success, and that success will produce problems.

It seems you learned at HAC the performance based Christianity model very well. Jack would be proud.
 
Wisdom guarantees you success in your Christian service. Here are some reasons why:

1) It provides happiness Prov. 3:13 "13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom,"

2) It gives you glory Prov. 3:35 "The wise shall inherit glory,"

3) It's better than everything else Prov 8:11 "For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her."

4) It is the key to other virtues Prov. 8:12 "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion."

5) It is much better than a lying tongue Prov 12:18-19 "There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health. The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment."

6) It is better than gold Prov. 16:16 "How much better to get wisdom than gold!"

7) It makes you strong Prov. 24:5 "A wise man is strong,"

Readers, if you want to be a success in serving God, wisdom will give you that success.

I think you misunderstand what Solomon wrote. The same Solomon that wrote much of the proverbs you're quoting..... wrote Ecclesiastes. You're making connects where none practically exist.

Divine direction is so very important. If you don't have "Divine Direction", then you're just spinning your wheels.

Psa 127:1  A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:

You're making the assumption that action..... equals....... God's approval. Its a mistake that you're making in many of your posts.

Speaking of "gifts"...the two things you pointed out are Vince's gifts....1. Misunderstanding  2. mistaken assumptions.
 
Readers, the Bible lists tremendous blessings to those who have wisdom, and I'm going to show you from Scripture how to get wisdom. But I need to explain something first.

God has blessed me with a lot of readers for these series, along with a handful of scorners who follow along to mock God's promises. Proverbs 14:6 tells us " A scorner seeks wisdom and does not find it," The blessings of wisdom are not for scorners. The Scriptures tell us that God WANTS you to be a success in your Christian service, and these scorners are united in their anger at that teaching, as well as being united in their failure at serving God.

You can have the success that comes from being blessed by God, and you can have the success that comes from disobeying His commands not to scorn. But you can't have both.

Do you really think you're being Godly by saying we are "failures at serving God" just because we disagree with some of what you're saying?

 
Ransom, your problem is not that you're going around asking questions. you are going around scorning, and a review of your posts confirms that. Wisdom is not for you, Ransom. The blessings that accompany wisdom do not appear in your posts or your theology, and as long as you continue to be a scorner, God will not give you wisdom.

Praise, you write "You're making the assumption that action..... equals....... God's approval. Its a mistake that you're making in many of your posts." I have to give you a negative on that, Brother. I teach that God's blessing produces success, and it does.

Action alone can be good or evil--we have people on this forum who are active in their disobedience to God's commands not to judge, speak evil of the brethren, and scorn. And then, there are the actions of Paul, who worked harder than them all; but it wasn't Paul, it was God's grace that drove him to take so much action.
