How to Succeed at God's Work

The FFF is run like a unsuccessful small church.

There are two overlapping doctrines: "The most important thing in choosing a church is its doctrine," and  "It is wrong to leave a bad church for a good one, if the bad church has better doctrine." Neither one of these two doctrines is taught in Scripture.

Years ago, my family and I were miserable members of an IFB church. All three of us hated to attend, but we were faithful. I realized that if I quit attending, my family would also quit, and I was ready to quit. We cautiously sneaked into a large, successful Southern Baptist church, and our lives changed. Successful ministries opened up for me when I realized that I am allowed to attend a good church that isn't IFB.

When a small group of people seized the successful Baptist church we were attending here in Mexico, we went to a successful soul-winning Assemblies of God church, and my wife and I are both happily finding several areas of service.

Are tares in leadership positions? Then leave.

Judging by the tone of your posts, you're still miserable.

But so is your theology, so at least there's that.

You have accused Ransom of being a tare and he is a moderator. So why are you still here?

Concerning the doctrine that you must stay in a bad church if it has correct doctrine:

The Barna Group is a secular organization that discovered that many  unsuccessful  churches have unhappy members who won't leave because of this doctrine. This included Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and a variety of genuine Christians. In other words, the great majority of people who believe this doctrine are not really in a church with correct doctrine.

Someone might object that you are an exception, because your unsuccessful church really does have correct doctrine, but you've missed the point. The doctrine is not found in Scripture, and it is widely produced in the flesh. God personally does not practice this doctrine, as He blesses saints in different denominations. And God blesses Christians who have left bad churches they believe in for good churches that they disagree with.

Readers, if you are unhappily attending a bad church, you are allowed to go elsewhere.

I bet these imaginary readers are extremely relieved that you have given them permission to go elsewhere...now go and do likewise.

Oh, thank you so much for your permission to go elsewhere. I am sure that nobody would make a move without it!

Vince doesn't believe his own "teaching." He's already said that the FFF is run like an unsuccessful church (i.e. presumably a bad one), and though he has labeled me a "tare" and said that you ought to leave a church if tares are in leadership, he can't seem to take his own advice.

Okay, Readers, I've said what I have to say, so it's time to hand this thread over to the scorners. Explaining away God's blessing us with over a hundred hits per day will give them something to do.

I know of one instance in which a new pastor successfully fought his way out from under tares who had seized positions of leadership--I know of a few who tried and failed. Most pastors just live with it. Usually, you can't get rid of them.

Readers, I appreciate your staying with me despite all the scorn. If you actually apply the Biblical methods of being blessed by God, you're likely to be attacked--that's normal, so don't let it stop you. Most of your attackers will be tares, but most people won't believe you. If your church is controlled by people who have seized their leadership positions, leave quietly, serve God somewhere else, and God bless you.

Vince's stats are a mystery to me.... here is the reality. He has no ability to make a judgement call on the popularity or effectiveness of a thread. This thread is not popular. It is way down the list of the most popular threads which bring outside traffic.

Not ONE SINGLE outsider has come to this thread, directly, so far in the month of April.

See pictures below:

Clearly you are a scorner who didn't acknowledge the invisible Dear Reader.

... and if that was not convincing since we are only one week into April, here is the total data on this thread for the month of March. Only FIVE people have come to this thread from outside searches or direct links. THREE of them left the forum from this thread.

Very interesting...thanks for the information.

FSSL is cooking the books!  :o

;)

While not agreeing with "Vince" in the least......

Such stats are subjective. It just means that page..... wasn't directly accessed via an external link or a "direct" call to the page.

I do agree that the lack of an direct navigation does indicate the thread is less likely being read by non forum members or "lurkers".

What are you burbling about now, Vince? You haven't had any kind of control over this thread since the second post.

So Vince is leaving the thread without acknowledging any questions put to him. A Godly teacher, one with integrity, would answer both his supporters AND his critics. Obviously Vince is neither Godly or a person of integrity. Vince is nothing but a coward. Still waiting for him to show how I supposedly slandered him and also supposedly committed blasphemy. Oh well, I guess I'll never know.

Questions, rather than unmitigated acceptance, are the marks of a scorner.

"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;"

The fourth thing I learned: Our invisible readers are a lot smarter than they look.

When the scorners started attacking, I was surprised at how quickly this series grew to over 100 hits per day. Occasionally, the scorners would boycott the series, and the count dropped to 80, but within three days it was back up to 100. Then the scorners wold return, but there was little change in the count. This happened three times in a row, and I realized that about 20 readers who were showing up for the scorn had begun showing up to learn Scripture.

I would answer a scorner, and it would not change the hit count. I would ignore the scorners, and it did not change the hit count. I realized that our readers did not respect the scorners and were not influenced by them.

You never did answer my question; how is Jeri doing? Is she on the mend?

He probably will not answer.  He does not want people to know they are kin.  Not sure why. They are very much alike.
