"If you hate Christmas then you hate Christ."

Yeah but remember the thought that Santa could deliver all those packages in one night is proof that the world is indeed flat.  :o 8)

also to add to that!!! the bible says for us " lie not one to another"  its impossible to have santa clause and not lie to your children to have him....same goes for the easter bunny and tooth fairy and all them sneaky lil tricks of the disgusting Lucifer that are wolves in sheeps clothing....fools gold......good from far but far from good...

satan is a tricky joker...but we as Christians have to be on the look out for any of the countless things he uses to keep our eyes off the prize.....our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!!

Pretending with children and lying are not the same thing. God did not establish Christmas as Christ's birthday so none of the things you mentions keep your eyes off the prize.

Well, it's only pretending if everyone involved knows that it's only pretend, while I'd say that the majority (or at least a significant portion) of children in the US believe that Santa is real. Some cultures even teach that the presents are delivered by an angel being or Jesus Christ Himself!

Santa Claus was one piece of Christmas when my boys were growing up. Never made a big deal of believing or not believing. Don't think anytime they may have believed had an lasting impact 8). They are 29 and 27 and both pretty successful adults.

I wouldn't deny that! I'm just saying that it's still a lie, even though the consequences are nothing more than a little disappointment that most every child gets over quickly.

Pretending and lying are still two different things. Children live in a world dictated by fantasy because God allows them to develop the ability to understand reality with age. The same concept in the adult world is a fiction book. Fiction is different than lying.

A colleague at work and I got into a conversation about Christmas and I made the off-hand comment that I hate Christmas. She look at me like I had just slapped her across her face as hard as I could. She was like, "how can you hate Christmas? It's all about Christ. If you hate Christmas then you hate Christ." I tried to explain that the part I hate is the over commercialization of Christmas, not the religious aspects of it. She replied by saying (words to the effect) that gift giving is at the very core of Christmas, what with the wise men bringing gifts to baby Jesus and to reject that is also a rejection of Christ. I think she's wrong, and told her as much and she basically accused me of not even being saved.  :o

So, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Can someone love Jesus but yet hate Christmas?

:)

Sure - from the Scriptures, it seems like Jesus' resurrection and coming return were far more important to them that Jesus' birthday.

I enjoy Christmas, personally -- it's only over-commercialized if you let it be so to you.  I ignore TV advertising and turn a blind eye on the emails that tell me this is the LAST DAY to get a SPECIAL HOLIDAY OFFER.... and we enjoy Christmas.
