This is on facebook . Thank you for sharing

Wouldn't you think if DH has "repented" that he would be more inclined to help the victims? Seems to be his fairly "new" ministry might help his pocketbook more than anything.

Are there any IFB ministries for the victims of sexual abuse?

I wish the newspaper would have contacted Pastor Farris from Pinellas Park.

Why?

How can they? That scandal-ridden church has changed its name so many times that the newspaper probably doesn't realize that it still exists. The ploy of changing the name of a church after scandal probably is new to journalists.

Pastor Farris retired and they sold the church property. I really believe he thought he should help dh . Pastor Farris and his family are wonderful people .

While I believe that these acts are heinous and despicable, and I would like to see all of these predators prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, I also understand that this is not limited to the IFB churches. If these investigative reporters would look into any denomination or movement, they would find similar results, I'm sure.

I don't see how taking in a rampant adulterer and pornographer who figured strongly in the suspicious death of a child whose bones he actually broke to be a church's Sunday School Superintendent is a wonderful thing. I think it was a horrible thing and part of the culture of covering up sin and abuse in these churches. Farris billed himself as 100% for Hyles back when that fad was all the craze in this weird subset of Fundamentalism. How was that wonderful? It was idolatry. He identified his church as a Hyles church. What was so wonderful about that? He deliberately linked himself to the hotbed that produced AV Ballenger and a truckload of others. His own church secretary became a prostitute at Dave Hyles' beck and call, branding herself with DAVE'S GIRL on her thigh. Farris never took responsibility for what he had done. Then he sent Dave on his way without warning the people of the church to which Dave went, and Dave caused more destruction there. There is something remarkable about the whole story, but I think you and I define "wonderful" in very different ways.

What they have found is that the IFB does nothing about the abuse except to cover it up, deny it, blame the victim, and send abusers to other churches to continue the abuse.

I met DH at Farris' church back in the 90's and I thought it strange that he had him teaching Sunday School after all the crapola he had been involved in.

AnkleBone, You are a newbie so welcome.  I didn't know a lot of the problems in Pinellas Park. I hope it leads to helping others to stop abuse.

It is just sick that these preachers place themselves above the law and above their calling

what they helped cover up was a transgression of our country's laws and more important a transgression of God's laws

they beat down so many people of much lighter offenses but were so guilty of much worse.

This isnt and IFB or a SBC  or a Catholic problem ...its in all professing churches. Evil men use their religion to prey on those that are the weakest and enslave them with a lifetime of guilt

I?m sure you are correct.
However this is pervasive in the IFB movement.
Which doesn?t mean everyone in said movement is guilty.
But, it is so widespread it?s hard to grasp.

I agree, it's staggering. It makes it so that you can literally trust no one.
I'm thankful that my kids are all grown. Suffice it to say that my response would not have been the same as Wendell Evans.

@IBCJAX, @PastorGregNeal & @Berean_Books have all locked their Twitter accounts.

I?m with you there.
I don?t see how Evans could simply conduct business as usual, but thank the Lord I wasn?t in his shoes. My experience is that the majority of IFB churches are not this way at all...but all too many seem to have been contaminated.
