In Honor Of Those Who Gave All For Our Country & For The Cause Of Christ

Do not thank me for my service today. Thank the one that lies beneath the flag.

Take time to remember the more than 650,000 service men and women who have
paid the ultimate price for their country.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Never Forget!

I'm baffled by the OP title.  Where does dead soldiers of America = dying for the cause of Christ?  Is America the new nation of God?  Are they somehow blessed over other nations b/c... they killed a lot of Indians and slaves?  Didn't Jesus say it is harder for the rich to enter the KoG, and therefore the prosperity of America is more of a curse?  Is that what these soldiers die for?  Is that truly them paying the ultimate (strong word mind you) price for freedom?

This is when I get a lot of reds, but I wish people would hear themselves.  Jesus nor the apostles wasted time on patriotic nationalism.

I'm not going to "red" you... :)

I will remind you.... That God's way has always been a rather bloody way. Regardless of what age or what people, God has often used the unthinkable to teach mankind various things concerning this life.

IF... and that is a BIG IF, you're going to criticize the actions of those who have done the "work of God".... you've got a lot places to point a finger. You can start right at Israel or maybe Joshua, Caleb, Moses, and many many others.

So it really doesn't matter whether its Israel, The US, Russia, Persia, Greece, Babylon or etc.... God does and will have His way. He will one day.... Settle all this in His own way.... Personally.

Now. I am not saying that the USA is God's chosen nation. Yet, it rather obvious that God has chosen to place "her" right where she is. When He gets ready..... He will take her down. I hope and pray that happens a LONG time from now.

I do agree that Jesus nor the apostles wasted time on patriotic nationalism. Yet, they never condemned it. They never attacked the nationality of anyone. You might want to notice that lesson as well.

There is nothing wrong with seeing the positives that taken place because of American influence. Are there negatives??? Yes. Wholeheartedly.... YES.

As far as the rich are concerned.... David was rich. So was Solomon. So was Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. So was the King of Salem. While generally speaking..... riches make people have less of dependency on God. Even some of the rich know riches aren't Eternal....

Don't be confused, I used the word "and" on purpose to give honor to each group as they deserve. Sorry you don't think those who gave themselves for freedom should not be honored...I disagree and will give honor to whom it is due. Mean while you sit there enjoying your freedom being apathetic or even hostile to those who died for you to have it.

Typical American.  Making assumptions.  No Honduran died for my freedom.  I don't live in the US.  I pray for justice and mercy.  That means I pray for the downfall of the most infanticidal nation ever.  There is plenty of unjust bloodshed on their hands, including slaves and natives.  You can be star spangled if you want.  But my eyes are wide open.

Second, "and" can be an epexegetical word equating the 2.  But even if you didn't mean that (and I know you didn't), your OP was around memorial day.  You said nothing of Christian martyrs nor did you video.  What am I left to conclude?

Third, what is the point of freedom if I cannot criticize.  This is the epitome of American patriotic hypocrisy.  People didn't die for freedom so I would be force to honor anyone.  If they were true to the American ideal of freedom, they died for my apathy and hostility.

Lastly, my citizenship has been transferred.  I might make use of my USA citizenship, but I don't care where I live.  I am here to serve the true king.  That will my focus be.  There will my honor lie (lay?).

I doubt your new nation is much different. Probably worse. Do you mind sharing which one it is.... Maybe we can have a history lesson?

Nearly all nations are born of conquest and tragedy. I think you're either being a little naive or you're purposely ignoring the facts.

I thought it was obvious, but I mentioned no Honduran ever dying for me.  I live in Honduras.  It is straight up 3rd world.  I get discriminated against constantly.  There are so many backwards ideas and aweful cultural mores here, it drives me bonkers.

That said, I'm not advocating the promotion of any nation.  Heck, I pulled for Sweden in Olympic hockey this past go round b/c they had more Red Wing players than any other team.  Like I said, I don't really care where I live.  I'm not attached to a geo-political program here.  I am for God's kingdom.  I look forward to the consummation of his reign throughout all the earth for all eternity.  If that is my mindset now, why would I bother focusing on how awesome America is?  Why celebrate the sacrifice for something that has no eternal value?

So I don't care how nations are born.  God's nation, the Kingdom of God, was birthed on the cross.  I will celebrate that.  I will honor that.  But fighting for a country that will be shadow and dust in the grand scheme of things seems like a misplaced allegiance.  Idolatry if you will.  And don't get me started on the pledge of allegiance.

(I'm still waiting for those who "fight for freedom" to stand up to the hypocrisy from those that say I must be patriotic or leave when I supposedly have the freedom not to be patriotic)

I hear they have the rain forest in that little 3rd world place where you live. Now I know they also have you. Would you do us all a favor & climb as far up in one of the rain forest trees & jump off into the nothingness that you brain has already reached.

Well God bless you and your Christian attitude of brotherly love, sir.  I wish you well as you so cogently refuted what I said.

You said something......?

It aided in honoring the fallen......not! So I will.

Sorry I missed it.

Are you really one of those "any moment" kinds? If you're really not.... then why would you logically abandon any form of patriotism? By the way.... you don't have to accept much of anything to show patriotism toward those who have served to keep others safe.

While you "wait" for a Kingdom.... by all means.... Participate in this one.

I'm not a big "allegiance" fan myself. I realize one day I may have to break that allegiance. I'm not there yet. When I pledge allegiance..... I'm not looking at a "golden calf". I think you're being rather broad in your application. I'm not worshiping anything but Christ. You can have it both ways. You can be patriotic and not be caught up in idolatry. You're making it sound as if its is impossible. That is silly.

(I'm still waiting for those who "fight for freedom" to stand up to the hypocrisy from those that say I must be patriotic or leave when I supposedly have the freedom not to be patriotic)

You look for something.... You'll usually find it. That doesn't mean you're right in looking for it to start with....

Personally , I believe you are free as anybody else to believe what you like. I believe you are wrong on the idolatry part or the service part... But hey that's why I served our nation AND why I serve our Lord! I don't equate the two, but respond to each as I am biblically told to... I do give honor where honor is due.

This hit me this morning.  The  air of certainty you exude... that any view different than yours is brainless... that is the epitome of pride.  Have you ever in your life consider the idea that you (1) might not know everything (2) you might be wrong about something (3) and that you could still learn something new?

This kind of attitude is the quintessential fundamentalist mindset... certainty is the measure of truth.  Therefore, if one's view differs from mine, apart from the merits of said view, it is certainly wrong b/c I am certain of truth.

How can you be teachable with this kind of mentality?  I see such an anti-Christian worldview here: lack of humility and teachability.

This is just my opinion.  I'm sure it wont even mean 2 cents to you.  But there it is, such as it is.

This just hit me......
