it;s that time of year again.. .... for humpback whales.....

I was lucky enough to spot one once on the way to Catalina Island.
That's so cool I hope one day to see one. The biggest fish I have seen in the wild is a dolphin.
we see them a lot beginning with this time of year on through april and may.... .. ... the pods that come here spend the summers in alaskan waters eating their fill and fattening up.... then migrate to hawaiian waters when the alaskan waters get colder..... ..while down here the pregnant females give birth and feed the baby whales until they are strong enough to make the swim back to alaska....

they are easy to see from shore if you know where to go... .and know what to look for... that one in the video is actually pretty far off shore and was only seen on camera.... and it happened so fast it would be easy to miss.... . many people have walked down beaches all day while things like that happened out at sea and never saw it.... ..but there are places here with deep water right off shore where they often approach to within 20 yards or so.... ..

this live feed of the oahu north shore just started today... .. but as well as being time
for whales to show up it;s also getting close to time for big swells to start coming in.
... .. not sure how long this will run but hopefully it will stay up until may at least....
