Jeremy Whitman Lancaster Baptist Church Does anyone know anything about this?

So, just from reading the news site and PC's site:

1.  JW was on staff as youth pastor, conf speaker, associate, personal assistant to the MOG and close personal friend of the MOG.
2.  Roughly 3 months ago (best we can tell, someone there may know better), JW left his employer and church.  We all know this means he left his whole world as he knew it.  Why?  Answers are not given.
3.  The church was told to leave them alone - the pastoral staff is working with him - noone else should talk to him.
4.  Many in the church highly regarded JW and considered him "one of the good guys" which translates that there is alot of corruption on staff.
5.  EU was also a member of the church, in JW's teen group and JW's sunday school class - they were close.
6.  JW hunted down his friend, and member of his sunday school class.  JW shot EU several times, drove off and killed himself.
7.  PC lied about his relationship with JW and JW's involvement in the church to the press.
8.  When caught, PC changed his story, proclaimed the church's valiant efforts to help this confused man, JW, and decided to honor his life.
9.  A memorial fund is set up for children of the murderer.  The murderer's funeral expenses will be paid by the church.  A blog page dedicated to the great life of the murderer.
10.  The murdered, who was also a church member, receives no recognition from the church, no honorarium, no funding, no help.

I cry foul.  Something don't add up.

I cry coverup. We are experienced with this at FBCH. Can see it clearly.

Something don't add up. Yup.

An interesting comment to the AVTimes article:

"I don’t think Tim [Christoson] is lying. I truly think he believes this.
When you go to that College and are ordained in that church you are told that if you ever stop believing in the IFB views, they can and WILL strip you of your college degree and your pastoral accomplishments. So, when Tim says he was never a pastor…it is true. Because once they strip him of the title, all he has done is washed away and never existed.

I bet if you ask if he graduated from the college they would say he did not."

They can erase your entire career? Really?

[sarcasm]

FBCH should totally do this! Then they could claim Jack Schaap was never a pastor, never taught at HAC, never even attended HAC, erase all records/video/pictures - as a matter of fact they could just deny he was ever born!

[/sarcasm]

After Chappell was publicly kicked around he posted about giving the victim's family assistance.

The will be holding some kind of memorial for church members during tomorrow's Sunday night church service...is that even remotely appropriate? At a regular church service?

I still don't get it.  Why is there only one sentence dedicated to the church member who was murdered?

PC now proclaims that JW left employment, family, his whole world, because he was on a prescription drug after a surgery?  ???  I know first hand that those things can make you goofy, but........

I still cry foul.

Why was Chappell the one to let the families know of Jeremy's death?! Isn't that something the police do?

Prescription drug addiction is not uncommon. Typically, people just don't go nuts and kill people because of it. That's the best they could come up with?

Yeah, I am not buying that either.

There are a lot of theories floating around...some make more sense.

Definitely a cover up IMHO.

And I wonder if that shoulder was a work-related injury...which would mean the addiction was the result of treatment of a work-related injury...which would mean...well, I think you can all follow this line of reasoning.

Anyway, here is a good post from the AVTimes comment section:

Why the hate? Arrogance.

If this had happened to person affiliated with another church in this valley I don’t think that the outcry would be as harsh, there are several reasons for this. Paul Chappell has made it clear that LBC is the only bible believing church in this valley. He has declared that he does not “hold hands “with churches that do not preach the gospel, inferring that the churches in this valley are not truly Christian. The record will show that he does not show up for meetings with other pastors in this valley.

Paul Chappell is arrogant while pretending to be a caring person, he mocks churches where people lift hands in worship or sing and play what he considers rock music, he has also discussed the dress of other people talking about their cut-off jeans, etc…

With regards to this particular tragedy, I could have predicted the way it was handled. Tim Christosen was the canary in the coal mine, so to speak. Tim goes out and distances himself for Mr. Whitman, Paul waits to see the response, and after the hue and cry he is now able to write a glowing report about his beloved assistant. This is the usual way things are handled with the staff. Paul’s instructions are, or should I say have been “Insulate me, don’t Isolate me”

I could be wrong but if he is still man I know, he has dispatched his underlings to the Ungermans to offer comfort all the while cautioning them to keep things private for the cause of Christ and protection of their family, as they say he is as slick as snot.

Paul Chappell is masterful at manipulation, as you all can see by the glowing posts from current members. I have seen some of those members awaken to see what is truly going on, some of the same people that shunned me when I left have cried bitter tears of regret. Paul will never have peace of mind because there are too many secrets; he knows that at some point some of his loyalist will leave on some pretense of being called to another ministry, while others will spill the proverbial beans

He didn't.  He wrote late in this week that he informed the family.  Obviously, that was wrong.  Self-grandeur.  He probably did sit and talk with the family, which would have been very difficult.

Hmmmm. Here at FBC Hammond, if I am not mistaken, Paul Chappell has been invited to speak sometime this coming year. A lot of announcements were verbally made about upcoming conferences, events. I am fairly certain PC was mentioned, because the church's radio program carries a daily message from Paul Chappell and that was referenced as well.

I might add also, we were strongly admonished in last nightt's sermon to avoid these internet sites / discussions. No mention of this particular situation, but just a general "avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it and pass away. Do not speak of it, do not open your mouth or type words on such matters as internet speculation / gossip.

Those type of warnings seem to be making the rounds in sermons these days.

Yeah, because the worst thing possible to happen is to have a congregation that is aware and asking questions! ::)

Ostrich syndrome.

I agree that there are sins we should not dabble in or with.  However, we also have a responsibility to help people recognize sin.  Yes, these forums are anonymous and sometimes just opinion, but what other resource is there to point out truth to a vast congregation who is being bullied and manipulated into Ostrich Syndrome?

Everyone who is posting on forums is evil...well get in line..in 2014 telling people to avoid forums is like saying don't shop at Walmart....really....

iMHO this means there really is a whole lot of "THERE" there.

If one has nothing to hide no need for this tact.

Agreed.

Paul Chappell seems to want to announce "case closed! Let's move on!"

No, we are not done and there are a lot of unanswered questions.

Has Chappell or the church done something to cause this or know about something criminal they are covering up?

I'm not familiar at all with what is or has transpired in this sad situation.
I've not been able to find anything sinister involving the church...which doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but does anyone know of any evidence of such?

Chappell and his bestie, the mayor of Lancaster, are claiming it was the result of an addiction to prescription drugs and there is almost absolute silence from members. Seriously, they post recipes and prayer memes on fb.

Prescription drugs can cause a real addiction, but not typically the kind that makes you hunt down your best friend and kill him brutally then go kill yourself.

There needs to be toxicology reports and a thorough investigation. Being hush-hush helps no one.

Also, it appears staff was told to avoid talking to Jeremy...so how much did they really try to help him? Jeremy's motivation can not be covered up...whatever it was.
