I chose not to stop....because I didn't want anyone to be able to say..."I saw bo on the side of the road talkin to some pretty girl" and that mess get back around to my wife.

I've had my many moments of similar failures for sure, but this sounds like the actions of the Priest and Levite in the Good Samaritan parable. There is a good probability they were more worried about their reputation (breaking the OT Law when it came to cleanliness) than stopping to help. (I wouldn't rule out fear, either.)

Oh, and I always tell my wife beforehand. I have nothing to hide and she has nothing to worry about.

I can see that.  Had she looked like she really needed help that would have been one thing...I probably would have.  But like I said...she had a cell phone on it talking away and she didn't seem really worried bout it.  Just felt best at the time to not stop and put myself in a possible situation of being tempted.

And my situation is a little different also...because im a young Christian.  (got saved bout 3 years ago)  and I have had problems with infidelity before in my previous marriage.  So I try to avoid any and all possible situations that the devil could use to make me backslide.

Yes it does. How else do you spread the gospel except by hanging out with them?
So what, I should chillax at the mall with some homies, to get the Gospel to them?

I believe it to be a lot like many different things.  I know that you never question the integrity of your pastor or your wife and that is WONDERFUL.  It shows you have a lot of trust in them both and they have earned a lot or respect from you.

Me being a married man.....I would never put myself in a position that would lead the devil to believe he has a chance at tempting me...or put myself in a position that would make it easier than it already is for the devil to tempt me.  So I would likely at the very least have taken another brother with me like your pastor did...had I been put in that situation.  I would have tried to have my wife go along if at all possible.

I may have been wrong....but I feel I wasn't.  One day on my way home from work...I see a car on the side of the road with a flat.  I will usually pull off and try to assist anyone with this problem.  As I got closer I saw that it was an attractive young woman.  I didn't think twice...I just kept driving and went on home.

It was a clear day...no rain....and she was on a cell phone.  So I knew she was able to get in contact with help.  I chose not to stop....because I didn't want anyone to be able to say..."I saw bo on the side of the road talkin to some pretty girl" and that mess get back around to my wife.

I also would not dance with anyone but my wife.  None of this barn dancing and switching off partners.....1 small step in a bad direction.

That's just me thou.....I caint tell anyone else what to do.

Angels unawares unless they are pretty and female.

lol...come on...that's not fair.    Had she been in true distress or danger I would have gladly helped...of course!!!

But im a volunteer firefighter....ive seen danger and distress...she was fine.
it was just better I didn't get in that position

I always ask, but ive noticed that, lately, young women who have a cell phone won't even look up at you, when you stop to ask.
Some wave you on.
I think that they feel safer talking to someone they know, who can come help them, than talking to a stranger.
That said, I'll still always stop.
I'll always make eye contact.
I'm looking for the "I need help" signal, from the person.

I asked two ladies at work about this.  I shared that I would not be comfortable giving a ride to a single lady.  One stated that it seemed odd to her, but she thought my wife sure would appreciate my preference.  The other stated her husband is the same way.  He won't go to lunch with just one other lady co-worker.  He wants to guard his testimony for his wife.  She stated that she really appreciates his practice of not being with another lady.

How do you purport getting the gospel to a person without hanging out with them to some degree first? Whether chillin
at the mall with homies, or whatever group you choose.
In John 4, how did Jesus connect to the woman at the well to spread the gospel? Seems he was chillin for a bit eh when the woman came walking up?

It's good you are aware, so many don't pay any attention to it.
Just a simple ride can become an opportunity or water a seed if the relational foundation has been built. Otherwise of course, it's just a ride.
Helping someone as we should

Stopping at the central well in an area was probably like going to a highway filling station today, not like chillaxin in the mizzo.

My commitment to my wife's security is greater than any perceived need to spend time socializing with other women.

1Pe 3:7  Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

I give honour unto my wife according to knowledge.  I know that she appreciates that I want everyone to know that she is my one and only.  So, I dwell with her according to knowledge and honor her this way.

Prophet- You say Earnestly Contend as your sig line. Then you say "Purpose and "hang out" do not equate when it comes to spreading the gospel. Yet fail to explain what that means.

You keep giving me sinereos like hanging out with gangs at the mall as a less than acceptable way to spread the gospel.
You equated Jesus spreading the gospel with the woman at the well... to someone witnessing to a person at a gas station, the modern day version. I am totally lost. How do you "Earnestly Contend" for the faith in order to spread the gospel if you are not hanging out with them in some fashion?

Again, it's good you are aware sure since so many people aren't.

It's good you are aware yes but it's now jumped into a relational decision you've made to cut off half of the earths population, specifically the female gender. Understandable for a couple who has endured recent adultery, but beyond that, it makes no sense to me.
Just sayin' Bessings to you both

I don't need to spend time socializing with other women.  Sometimes, on break, I converse with other women who are present.  I believe in being courteous to others, even strangers.  However, when asked if I wanted to ride along with a group of ladies to a work luncheon, I respectfully declined.  I would rather listen to sports radio in my car than them.  If a lady was broken down, I might stop to offer assistance, but do not feel comfortable planning time alone with another lady alone.  Why is that odd?  I work with many women.  I attend small group with adults of both gender.  I socialize with my family.  Why do you spend your social time alone with other women?

Don't know, I don't personally know them. Do you have a point or are you being obtuse?

Do you personally know Binaca Chugger dude?  You had no problem judging him for employing the exact same principle as Graham.
