John 3:16

Holy Cow...some of these comments.

On occasion I have to travel out of town with female co-workers...in the same car and even stay at the same hotel and eat across from them at the same table.

Some of you people need a good slap up side the head with a big dose of reality thrown in.

There is a difference between being sent on a trip with a female co-worker and choosing to take the same female co-worker on trips.

I would not like to hear that my wife is routinely eating lunch alone with a male friend, no matter who he is.

... and I try not to eat alone with female co-workers... It can start out in all innocence, but being thrown together, souls can be knit, and adultery is not necessarily far off.

In another forum, a pastor texting a woman is said to be "grooming" her for an affair; here, taking a female out to lunch is always perfectly innocent.  The posters here don't seem to be very consistent.

But that's just me.

I'm perfectly fine with that being you; I have a problem when you insist that YOUR way is "the" right way and everyone else should do things the way you do.

I don't know I ever insisted anyone do what I do.

And the truth is any man that say, I wouldn't have any problems with another man going sit and have lunch everyday with my wife, is lying and is full of CRAP!!!"
You kinda insinuated it

Because they are lying and full of crap. You would not take kindly to ur wife doing this and you know it.
No, I wouldn't.  I fully trust her. I think you are exhibiting your insecurities to others here.  Not everybody is as insecure as you are.

In another thread about a pastor texting a women, you said that "real men" should have beaten the pastor up.... (clearly, I'm paraphrasing).

And they should have, shame on them for not standing up to someone that was violating the women in their church.

I'm literally LOL! No that has nothing to do with it. It's not about being insecure or not trusting.

Maybe it's because I'm just too old, but I just can't imagine frequent lunches with a female co-worker leading to adultery.  Yeah, I find women attractive, and I still have a couple hormones left, but it's just not something that I entertain even lightly.

If it bothered my wife that I had lunch with women alone, I wouldn't do it.  My wife's feelings come first, even if there's no cause for her to feel threatened.

That's academic, anyway.  I don't know anyone at work I'd lunch alone with, and my wife makes me lunches.

Do I trust my wife?  Yes.  There are things that bother me, but it's too complicated to explain.  It has mostly to do with the fact that she's still adjusting to being in a new country with a new language, and I still can't speak Cantonese or Mandarin.

Any man in a father-figure or leader position (pastor, doctor, psychiatrist, manager, etc.) is going to be targeted by certain types of women.  I think they need to be more cautious than the rest of us.

Some of us are fat, bald, ugly, and poor, and are in no danger of attracting women for an affair. ;)

I once joked my wife by saying that I had all these girls hitting on me, she just gave me that look and giggled to herself, I really felt inadequate:D!

Just curious but how often do you think the co-workers hangout in one another's rooms men and women, specifically?

My elderly MIL just passed away 9 days ago so I ran off for 3-4 days,to take care of long overdue work related stuff.

I cared for both MIL&FIL for months while working from home. He was very abusive, he?s the reason she was wheelchair bound and starved her. She almost died in the hospital when we intervened. He also stole my 2015 Tesla and crashed it purposefully because we ensured she had showers and whatever food she wanted. Screamed at other caregivers who came to help and mentally abused my wife making her cry. Constantly saying horrific things. It was a living hell. MIL backed him up against me. She'd get so shook up and yell at us backing him up when he was abusive. Making it seem as if we were in not allowing him to decide her meals. She was severe alzheimers so how to get her to understand was challenging. He abused her like an animal for so long. She acted as if she deserved it and expected us to be complicent in it. Which is a form of abuse so my wife had two abusing parents.
I had a ton of baggage no women wants to hear about... combined with sleep deprivation. Not a good mix but great for watching Betwitched together and just sleeping. I hate being alone. I can flirt without saying a word then tell myself I am not flirting so still need to watch it. But at 44, not so much now.  I'd have to stay at the funny farm for a long time if I even made out with someone. My wife can probably pull it off better than I can, so if she is regularly having lunch with anyone, I need meet them. She knows that and is very open with what she says..sometimes I am cringing inside cause she'll tell alot...I try to be very open minded and always keep a straight face.
Age, location, what tent God assigned you, and your personality traits play into much of these decisions

There are good reasons to have fences.

It is also good to know that fences can become idols.

Question. Do you allow yourself to get into the situation where you are alone in a car with the opposite sex? For example - taking a woman to work (car-pool), or drive an older lady to Church, or maybe help a woman get to a doctors appointment.

Recently my wife needed a ride to the doctors, I was at work, and the pastor offered to drive her. He drive 20+ miles out of his way to pick up another brother before getting my wife - he has a rule about being alone with a woman in his car.

I appreciated this I suppose. But. I never questioned his integrity, nor my wife's.

I drive the opposite sex alone in my car all the time. And besides - these days - the same sex could be a problem. Right?

What are your thoughts about such rules?

Brother Tim, it is always expedient to abstain from all appearance of evil.  And therefore it is a good rule to follow to not be alone in a house or car with someone of the opposite sex who is not your wife. And that is if it can be avoided. For I am aware that there are lots of different situations that could happen. Now of course if it is an elderly lady, that can be a little more debatable. But if you are with another woman by yourself, same age range, you are very likely to be tempted. Due to your flesh nature and her flesh nature as well. Just saying.

Kind of works the same way in witnessing. If you are out and about and see a couple, and you are impressed in your spirit to witness to that couple, you would of course deal mainly with the husband and not the wife. Since that is more appropriate. And so if there comes a time when you do need to help out a lady that serves in the same ministry as you serve in, it is better to bring another brother and also a sister in Christ with you, that way to be accountable and to abstain from any appearance of evil.

A ride is a ride, not an occasion for sex. I don't have any rules about it.

It's a good thing for you that the Bible says nothing about avoiding the appearance of stupidity. Otherwise, I guess you'd never have accused the president's wife of being a transsexual.

And this is why I never ride alone in a car with my wife. Think about it.

If someone knows me and knows I am married but doesn't know who my wife is, than that could appear that I am having an affair.

My goal is to live above reproach.

That's why I never appear in public with my daughter.  People might think I'm having an affair with a much younger woman.

Biblebeliever should never ride alone in a car with a man. Someone might assume he was a homosexual. I certainly would. Anyone who looks at Michelle Obama and is reminded of men, likely has a large supply of loafer-lightener in his fabulous shoe closet.
