"graceandtruth" hangs around a little from time to time. He seems to be mostly looking for someone to agree with his world view on racism in America. I don't know if he's been rather successful or not. He might have a fan in OZZY.

Thanks for your response CU.  I was aware of Grace and Truth.  I have seen his comments on many subjects including a few on american racism.

I am an American. Never been to Africa. Of course I should note that my ancestry includes lineage to Germany, England Ireland, Wales, The Netherlands and Scotland. Never been to any of them either. One branch of the family did come through Canada on the way here and I have been there. Blue eyes, brown hair (well it was before it went gray and fell out) fair skin with freckles. I like long walks on the beach and soft music with dinner. I hate phony people and I hope to adopt someday ..... wait, what were talking about?

Thanks for the response subllibrm.  If you know any African-Americans actively participating in this forum please encourage them to respond on this post.

You know, this forum is not limited to Americans.  There might be some African-Canadians here.  Or African-Germans.  Or African-Australians.  Or African-Japanese.  Or an African-Greek.  Maybe an African-Puerto-Rican.  Or an African-Bangladeshian.

There might even be an African-African.

If you're white and live in Africa, are you an American-African or European-African?  How about the Chinese?  Are they Asian-Africans?

Since civilization supposedly started in Africa, doesn't that make ALL Americans African-Americans?

1/8 African-American. Also 1/8 Native American, 1/4 Japanese, and 1/2 mixed Northern European, so I'm about as Heinz 57 as they come.  :-*

Since I'm dark enough and vaguely Asian looking, I'm sometimes mistaken for a Filipina.

My opinion is that the Zimmerman jury reached the legally correct verdict.

As long as we keep the white Hispanics out I'm good.  8)

I am a person.  Does it matter to you how much melanin is in my skin?  Isn't it time we stop identifying people by skin tone and start identifying people as simply people?

Thanks Izdaari.  If you know of any active African-American participants in this forum please ask them to post on this thread.  No surprise on your agreeing with the verdict.

Thanks for the response BC.  I am afraid that you may not understand that African-Americans are proud of their heritage both the Pan-African aspect and the North American aspect.  We are not willing to ignore the struggles or the contributions that our ancestors and your ancestors have made to what we are today.  This should be understandable since we see an example of this when Israel is gathered back together in the last days.  Christians cheered Israelis returning to Israel and identifying with their ethnic heritage but seem to be put off by African-Americans doing the same.  I don't understand and really did not start this thread to discuss this or any other situation.

If you know of any African-American active participants on this forum please ask them to post on this thread.  Thanks.

NO.  Seriously.  It is time to stop identifying people by skin tone.  Appreciate history, fine.  Call a travesty of humanity a travesty of humanity, fine.  However, stop attacking segments of America for the events in history.  I have grown weary of people identifying themselves as victims.  It is time we identify ourselves as people.  Any society in any nation has different segments with different heritages and different possibilities.  However, this is America in 2013.  A black man reared by a single mother can become President.  A white man from poverty and a blended home can become President.  A black woman who grew up in the Birmingham race riots and had close friends die in the church bombings can become Secretary of State.  A college kid can come up with an idea and become one of the wealthiest people in the world.  Let people be people.  Stop mandating that those of a certain skin tone fit into a pre-determined social behavior and social paradigm.

No one is talking about being a victim BC.  No one is mandating anything.  Thanks and if you know of any African-Americans that are active posters on this forum please ask them to respond on this thread.

How about you take a look at the "Open season ..." thread and tell me how that speaks to my dignity as a human being and the young lady's dignity as a human being in the last post.  Please post your comment on that thread about that thread.  This one has been taken far enough off subject already.

What a comparison. Sounds like Black supremacy to me. You're really not an IFB. Not even close.

By the way... are you  trying to start a segregated thread here? Wow... how things have changed.

Do you mind if I do a "sit in"?

Just as a reminder, science teaches that all of humanity had its start in Africa.

Me?  I like listening to Tony Evans and T.D. Jakes.  It would be interesting if such posted here.  But why should their racial heritage matter?

So -- you want us to rejoice if black people go back to Africa?  You're creeping me out, man.

TD Jakes has a great sermon on let it go it has helped me so much to not hang on to anger and disappointment
