"graceandtruth" hangs around a little from time to time. He seems to be mostly looking for someone to agree with his world view on racism in America. I don't know if he's been rather successful or not. He might have a fan in OZZY.

Never been to any of them either. One branch of the family did come through Canada on the way here and I have been there. Blue eyes, brown hair (well it was before it went gray and fell out) fair skin with freckles. I like long walks on the beach and soft music with dinner. I hate phony people and I hope to adopt someday ..... wait, what were talking about?

Since I'm dark enough and vaguely Asian looking, I'm sometimes mistaken for a Filipina.
My opinion is that the Zimmerman jury reached the legally correct verdict.

Thanks for the response BC. I am afraid that you may not understand that African-Americans are proud of their heritage both the Pan-African aspect and the North American aspect. We are not willing to ignore the struggles or the contributions that our ancestors and your ancestors have made to what we are today. This should be understandable since we see an example of this when Israel is gathered back together in the last days. Christians cheered Israelis returning to Israel and identifying with their ethnic heritage but seem to be put off by African-Americans doing the same. I don't understand and really did not start this thread to discuss this or any other situation.
If you know of any African-American active participants on this forum please ask them to post on this thread. Thanks.

NO. Seriously. It is time to stop identifying people by skin tone. Appreciate history, fine. Call a travesty of humanity a travesty of humanity, fine. However, stop attacking segments of America for the events in history. I have grown weary of people identifying themselves asvictimsAfrican-Americans (fixed). It is time we identify ourselves as people. Any society in any nation has different segments with different heritages and different possibilities. However, this is America in 2013. A black man reared by a single mother can become President. A white man from poverty and a blended home can become President. A black woman who grew up in the Birmingham race riots and had close friends die in the church bombings can become Secretary of State. A college kid can come up with an idea and become one of the wealthiest people in the world. Let people be people.Stop mandating that those of a certain skin tone fit into a pre-determined social behavior and social paradigm.(fixed)
