They only one *I think* would possibly be WEB. I could be wrong

I miss EW too.

And Torrent, Bryan, and ABIGKID

I'm almost convinced "graceandtruth" is EW.

No. EW had issues trying to string together a coherent sentence. graceandtruth is articulate.

There was another fella in the earlier years of the previous forum. Marlin Denver perhaps? He too was articulate. Wondering if there is a connection...

No SC.  I don't know Marlin Denver.  We African-american IFB's are few and far between for obvious reasons.

I don't think Marlin was IFB but charismatic. It has been a while so I might be wrong.

Regardless, I appreciate your perspective on these issues. I have a good friend who is A-A and we have talked about issues like these and really opened my eyes to things I had never seen before. Little nuances like women clutching their purses in the grocery store when he walks by. By no means racist actions but does show prejudices.

Despite what these other guys are saying, I don't think we E-A can really understand from an emotional point of view. Appreciate your sharing with the board. :)

EW pretended to be a lot of things. Every once in a while, he'd string together a coherent sentence. :) You're probably right though.

Can we all hold hands now and sing "we shall be free"?

I believe everyone here has been emotionally empathetic. You want more than an acknowledgement of your situation. You want someone to agree you've had/have it worse than any other minority or social class. Sorry. Not going to do it.

I am not making it a African-american or Euro-american issue.  This issues do exist and the church needs to address these issues.  If the redeemed can't get this right then there is no hope for this country ever rising about its inhumane treatment of humans.

I think the problem is that I will not be bullied or insulted into silence and I will not agree with wrong views held by the majority.  Acceptance is good but assimilation is always deadly to the one being assimilated.

yes you have.... to the point that you have totally disregarded the experiences and opinions of people from other races... (like myself.. mexican-navajo)... as if nothing we have to say or can relate to concerning racism is relevant... simply because we are not african american... .. you have put all of us (no matter what our racial heritage is or what kind discrimination and bigotry it is we might have encountered).. all into the same category as euro-americans.... .... which tells me that african americans in the 21st century of your social class and affluence don;t see us as any more worthy of consideration than european americans saw either of us 100 years ago ....

you didn;t look at the evidence presented in the case.....  when i first heard about this story i felt the same way you did.... i saw it as black and white...cut and dried.... .. but the evidence showed a much bigger picture.....  you are continuing to see it in black and white and doing nobody either black or white any good in the process...... you keep asking everyone here to check their racial bigot card?.... maybe you should take a hard look at your own...........

Thanks for the info aleshanee.

Your assumption that I didn't look at the evidence because I didn't arrive at the same conclusion with you and the rest of the folks on this forum is quite incorrect and telling.

I am aware that others have experienced discrimination in america.  I am also aware that each group has a unique experience and those from the other groups do not full grasp the experience of others.  I know their is a difference between being stolen from your homeland and having your homeland stolen from you.  I know there is a difference between being denied your humanity and the ability to understand what is happening to you in a strange land and the same things occurring in your homeland.  I know there is a difference between your culture being accepted as valid, i.e. Native Americans, and your culture being declared invalid, i.e. African-Americans.

I am not being any more divisive when I point out the issues that effect African-Americans in america than Paul was when he reference the existence of Jews and Gentiles.  Paul refused to let the dominate culture of the Jews in the church become the culture of the church but this has not been the case in america.  Paul did not call for assimilation or ignoring the issues as those in this forum have but instead he called for acceptance of differences and different views.

My concern with the subject is the silence of some and the vocal support of injustice or cry that there can be no such thing as injustice when it comes to African-americans and their insistence that I join them.  My concern is with the euro view that other people groups need their paternal input to "really" understand what they experience.  My concern is with those who claim to be Christians continuing the silence and support for injustice that characterized the church in america during slavery, Jim Crow, etc.  My concern is that the people on this forum feel it is christlike to insult and belittle me because I do not agree with their skewed view.  My concern is that the same people who hold up the prophets' identification with their fathers' sins as an example of Christianity refuse to do the same but yet identify all African-americans who disagree with them with the sins of their brothers.

Oh yeah, I don't know who EW is but my name is Wesley Roy and I am not EW but I am WR.  :D

what do you know of your culture graceandtruth?.... have you ever made an effort to learn about it?... .. do you ever lie awake at night and wish your ancestors had never been removed from it... and that you and your family were immersed in that culture still?....

and what do you know of me or my culture?... what makes you believe my culture was ever considered valid or accepted?..... you say my assumption that you didn;t look at evidence (which you never the less disregarded whether you actually looked or not) ... is "telling"?... .. ok....... and when you try to assume some superior mantel of "collective injustice" based on the history of your people.. then imply you think that i don;t understand because my culture was somehow accepted when yours was not... that is also telling... ..... european americans never considered my culture valid.... they did all could to destroy it.....  and the u.s army contracted to help destroy it and to keep my ancestors from preserving their culture in 1890 certainly did not accept it or consider it valid either....

and did you know... that when the u.s army opened fire with cannons on a group of starving and near frozen to death native americans 1890... then sent the cavalry to chase down those who tried to run away in the snow.... trampling women and children under the hooves of their horses... that african american members of that cavalry.. (called buffalo soldiers).. were among those who not only too part riding those women and children down.... but also received commendations for their "heroic" actions.... .. and that wasn;t a rare or unique incidence either...  the history of african american cavalry.. or buffalo soldiers... not only being sent to assist in the slaughter of native americans all over the western united states in the late 19th century... but also of them carrying out that duty with great enthusiasm.... is well known....

why am i saying this?...... because if you are going to adorn yourself with the collective mantle of the history of your people... and claim a right to anger and indignation against the rest of us based on that history... whether or not anything ever happened to you personally ...  then you should be willing to accept and wear all the parts of that mantle and collective history.... .. both that which you feel justifies you and entitles you to your anger.... and also that which should make you feel ashamed....  . if i am supposed to feel ashamed and partly responsible...as a native american... for what european americans that i am not even related to did your people in previous centuries... ... then perhaps you should feel ashamed for what african americans.. which you are related to and have also claimed the collective mantle of ....did to mine in a more recent century......

you should give careful thought to this wave of righteous indignation and air of moral superiority that have over taken you here in recent weeks.... and consider whether all of it is justified.....

I apologize for our involvement in the oppression of your people.  I have no mantle but I just as emotionally charged about the stealing and systemic dehumanizing of my ancestors.  I am also emotionally charged about the fact that people think we should be silent about the ways in which this treatment of African-americans continues in more subtle but just as real ways today.

I have no qualm with you and do not claim to have some superior position.  We have been robbed of our names, languages, history, humanity, dignity, cultures, etc. and any attempts to bring these facts to light are summarily rebuffed.  My last name is Roy which is Scottish.........really.  I am not blaming you for this because you have experienced the same type of events.  However, I see no reason not to speak to the African-american reality in america.

Strange that we cheer the prophets when they say we and our fathers have sinned but when it is america's turn...............

My guess would be physically tearing families apart to sell the members on the open market is a bit more "real" than whatever (perceived) mistreatment you happen to have in mind today.

Oh...

...guess not.

So far the "events" that you have cited are actually non-events. I could cite events of actual racism that affected individuals but that's just it...it's individual...because that's the nature of events.
Strange that we cheer the prophets when they say we and our fathers have sinned but when it is america's turn...............
Sure. I don't know why my wife gets so emotional over "small stuff" at times but I acknowledge that reasonable or not, those feelings are legitimate so I empathize with her emotionally though I don't see or understand from her perspective. Nor does she understand when I cry when the Bears lose! :D

I think SC is saying that he can understand why I feel that way though he does not feel it.  It is like my conversation with aleshanee.  I can understand why she is upset that the Buffalo Soldiers who have just been declared human beings and not cattle in December of 1865 would participate in the oppression and genocide of her ancestors though I do not feel the same emotions that she feels about that event.

rsc2a you would agree that there are people groups and cultural characteristics of people.  These are not all related to the american construct of race.  So everyone is not the same within a people group though they share similarities and are often grouped together by those outside the group.  For instance there is a young man on death row at this time that was given the death penalty instead of life because it was argued that because he is a male he is more likely to commit a violent crime again and because he is African-american he is more likely to commit a violent crime again.  Demographic groups are used by america all the time when it forwards their agenda.
So everyone is not the same within a people group though they share similarities and are often grouped together by those outside the group.
Kind of like you've been doing with all non-blacks?

(FTR: I don't recall anyone saying, "Black folks are..." anything.)

Pop quiz:

An uneducated white man from south Mississippi has to work three jobs to make ends meet (when he could find work). Right now he is working as a laborer in the gardens of a prominent black doctor who graduated from a top university. Which one has had the harder life?
