Paul was referencing a canon of the OT that you don't except in your choice of canon today.

I have no idea what the above sentence is supposed to mean. Have you ever considered a course in remedial English?

I thought I was talking to someone that would understand the statement.

The OT canon of Paul was different than the OT canon included in what we call the "Protestant Canon" today. The canon you accept as being applicable.

Do you know the OT Paul had?
He had the gospels too, right?
Since Paul was aware that he was composing the word of God, then why didn't he feel compelled to say in 2 Timothy "Oh yeah, by the way, this is Scripture too."

Either the writers of Scripture knew they were writing God's words or else you have Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, Hosea, Joel, Jonah, Micah, Zephaniah, Haggai, Daniel and Zechariah without that knowledge.

Scripture is allowed to self-attest because God's words have to be.

No, the typical estimates of when the gospels were written place their authorship after Paul's death.

Or very close to that.

Luke made it clear that there were "many" whom had taken to task to write down a orderly record of events. Luke was one of many. Many is more than just Matthew, Mark, and John. I'm certain that it was much more than has survived.

Mark might have been present during the life of Paul but I doubt it. Matthew is probably as about as close as it comes. Either way, they wouldn't have been circulated to the point that they would have been well known to all.

The Gospel of John was most definitely written after Paul's death.  I can't imagine Luke took the time to write his Gospel and Acts during the times of Acts, definitely not Acts.  Yes, there's the remote possibility some form of Mark, Matthew and even Luke existed before Paul died, but the possibility he saw any of them is even more remote.

It's not like Paul could run Chrome and view the works on the Internet as soon as they were written.  Although I figure Paul would be more of a Firefox guy.

Jesus Himself referenced texts outside of the present OT canon among Protestants. Yes. Paul would have used a Greek OT that at least included the Maccabees.

Since Paul was aware that he was composing the word of God, then why didn't he feel compelled to say in 2 Timothy "Oh yeah, by the way, this is Scripture too."

I said he wasn't. Why are you taking this as fact?

Either the writers of Scripture knew they were writing God's words or else you have Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, Hosea, Joel, Jonah, Micah, Zephaniah, Haggai, Daniel and Zechariah without that knowledge.

They wrote prophecy. Paul clearly said that he wasn't adding to what the prophets had already declared. He established his Gospel based on the writings of the prophets.

Scripture is allowed to self-attest because God's words have to be.

I never said any differently. Again. I was making a logical argument and talking about the result of using a self-attesting argument to establish the canonical list.

AGAIN... I will ask...

What canonical list was "God Breathed"?

Better example. However,  the principles of a prime number is rather easy to discern.

And what part of "all Scripture [not 'some Scripture' or 'only the Scripture presently available to us'] is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" do you find hard to discern?

"All Scripture is breathed out by God . . ." is a proposition no different in kind from "All men are mortal." It doesn't apply only to men who are already born.

You have a very high opinion of yourself....

So much for showing the "work" of humility to justify yourself before men.....

"All Scripture" was within the context of the one speaking. Just what about that "all" do you not understand?

Since you used an phrase external to what you call the "Scriptures".......How about "all men are dogs"? Is that proposition no different than "All Scripture"

It's not hard to discern at all.  I already agreed that all Scripture is God-breathed, etc.  The question is, what is scripture?  You can say it's the current 66 books of the modern Bible, and that may be fine for you.  But that's no better than saying "the only real scripture is the King James Bible, and that's what I believe."  It isn't necessarily true just because that's what you believe.

It is still valid to question the authenticity and authorship of some of the books, do the research, and see if you can defend its inclusion into the canon.  Indeed, we have more information now than ever to pull from in order to conduct a thorough investigation.

No, I have a high opinion of you.

Which is to say, are you high?  Judging by your use of constant use of malapropisms and general lack of good grammar and spelling, you are most likely computing while under the influence of recreational chemistry.

So much for showing the "work" of humility to justify yourself before men.....

Speaking of "work," you should work on your language skills.

Man......

You sure are earning your reputation for following Jesus.....

Making fun of someones "language skills" must get you top honors in the "following Jesus" category!!

I've told you before. My fingers don't work well at times. It gets worse the older I get.

You missed an apostrophe in "someone's." Hope this helps.

Confusing "except" and "accept" isn't a finger problem, grandpa.

He doesn't want to see the evidence. It might change his mind. FSSL is the same way. Neither of them have any real knowledge when it comes to establishing the historical canon...

Look.... We don't agree on many things. We argue just like everyone else around here. I think you have long been wrong at many levels on many different things....

However, all I really want is for people to look at the evidence and make their own choice. Live with the choices you make. Don't blindly let others do it for you.....

There was a time in the not too distant past that just mentioning something like we're discussing....... would get you KILLED. Just ask Calvin.... ( I had to say that )...

There's nothing wrong with identifying the evidence so others can make their own choice.

Where did I do this? I might have. I don't remember it.....

Unlike yourself, I'm not looking to put my "good works" on display via "good language skills". It is what it is. I try to improve. If you don't like it. You can bring it up at Judgement. Maybe the Lord Jesus will entertain your critic of me.

You and Yeezy seem to suffer from the same affliction. I remark that what is predicated of "all Scripture" can be predicated of Scripture not yet in existence, and you both seem to think I'm talking about the process of canonization.

I started this thread and referenced the canon from the beginning. We didn't change anything.

Fine, I'll include Scripture not yet in existence and Scripture that existed but was destroyed and no longer exists.
