You should volunteer to keep some ISIS fighters.

If they are ISIS fighters, they wouldn't be refugees. ;)

You can't tell the difference.

That's the whole point.  If it was easy to tell the difference, Paris probably wouldn't have been attacked.

So an ISIS soldier would be running in fear of his own group because his group is out to kill him? Seems being in the ISIS camp would be more beneficial than running from ISIS groups.

You're seriously ignorant of the issue?  Really?

First, the ISIS soldier WANTS death (martyrdom), so he's not looking for safety.

Second, the problem is that ISIS soldiers are using the refugee crisis to infiltrate western cultures and spread terror.

You living under a rock now?

Nope. In the end, my life is in God's hands and it is up to Him to take me when He chooses. In contrast, I am to show love. I'm sure the Good Samaritan was in the land of robbers and thieves and he took a chance that the victim was legit when he could have been a poser. Didn't matter. If we expect God to bless America, we need to be more concerned about helping the helpless, risking our own safety in the meantime. THAT is what touches the heart of God. THAT is what will bring God's protection to America. Some trust in tanks, some in bombs but we should be trusting the only One who can kill body and soul.

I wasn't contesting your motives.  I was responding to your fantasy world where ISIS soldiers wouldn't infiltrate the west because they'd be safer among ISIS.

By all means, take in Syrian refugees, yourself.  Don't force it on the rest of America, or you will be responsible for the deaths of the people who are attacked.  It's one thing to sacrifice yourself because of your devotion to God.  It's quite another to sacrifice the lives of OTHERS because of your devotion to God.

Your thoughts are commendable but naive.

The man the Good Samaritan helped was wounded and probably pretty helpless. I don't think he brought his whole family with him and expected to live with the "Good Samaritan" for many years. Its an apples to horse dung comparison.

I have no problem with SC wanting to house refugees, himself, and not worrying about his life.  But, like I said, it's one thing to sacrifice yourself because of your devotion to God.  It's quite another to sacrifice the lives of OTHERS because of your devotion to God.  Don't force America to take in refugees because YOU don't care how it affects YOUR life.

I mean, let's have compassion on murderers and release them all from prison.  It doesn't matter if they kill your family, because my devotion to God means I don't care what happens to my life.

It IS difficult when others are involved. For example, if a person put a knife to the throat of my wife or one of my kids and tell me to deny my faith, it would be a very difficult call for me and frankly, I don't know what I would do. It would be easier to face my own death than the death of one I love. So I do know where you are coming from.

My point, we Christians consistently demand holiness to 'bring America back to God'. We do it by getting rid of stuff (homosexuality, abortion, etc). Here is a great test of faith God has dropped in America's lap. Are we AS A NATION (and supposedly a Christian one) willing to help the least of these? It is a matter of FAITH (as a 'Christian country') that God would take care of us if we do. Are we willing to risk something to obey God? Seems the liberals are more opt to behave godly in this manner than the conservatives.

They've been proven guilty of crimes (in most cases). The refugees are unknown and the majority are innocent.

For all we know, the majority of imprisoned murderers are reformed and won't murder again.  So let's release them all in order to show compassion.

The point -- which you obviously don't understand -- is that there's a significant risk of innocents being killed by the refugees (or murderers).  Just because YOU have compassion and YOU are willing to take refugees and shoulder the risk doesn't mean America should do it just to please you.

There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love.

Should a "Christian" America fear or love?

Again, you're a Christian, you should have no fear, and you are welcome to take in as many refugees as you want.

That's not the same thing as saying America should take in refugees.  Speak for yourself about the risks, dangers, and Christian attitude.  I agree with you there on a PERSONAL level.  But don't impose it on everyone else.  My PERSONAL compassion doesn't give me the right to put everyone else at risk.

The subtext of your arguments (if it is even subtext) is that "I believe in X, therefore EVERYONE should do X."  When you establish a theocracy and crown yourself the leader, then go ahead.  Until then, do your part, and stop pretending everyone else should do the same.

Precisely why Christians shouldn't argue against gay marriage.  :D

I don't argue against non-discrimination.  I just don't like people redefining the word "marriage".  Give gays 100% of the rights and privileges and call it "garriage" or something, and I'd be fine with that.  Are you married?  Yes (you can assume I have a wife).  No?  Are you garried?  Yes (you can assume I have a partner of the same sex).  See how easy that would be?

By the way, this meme is ALMOST correct.  What it should say is, "How many of you (Christian) liberals are going to insist that the American people eat a handful?"  And that's the point.  Take responsibility for yourself.  Don't make others take the same risks.

you seriously don;t understand the nature of terrorist insurgents....... ..... but don;t worry..... i didn;t either until it was explained to me by someone who does know....and who has worked in the countries the operate from helping keep innocent civilians safe from them.........

the kind of isis insurgents who attacked paris have already given themselves over to death for the opportunity to commit murder..... they call it a holy martyrdom... ::) ........ they are willing to suffer any indignity ..go through any routine... fake any identity..demographic or condition...pretend to be in fear of their own terrorist group....pretend to be an aid worker volunteering to help the poor........even hide out in a sewer among the raw sewage or in a pig sty full of pigs if necessary...... and do it all for as long as it takes until their opportunity comes to wreak havoc and kill as many of the "infidel" as they can manage before either blowing themselves or being shot in the process.........

you don;t bring the sugar cane into your barn and then sort it out for rats.......... you shake the rats out of it before you bring it in........that is.... if you are serious about preserving the sugar... rather than just feeding more rats........

As stated by my buddy Al Mohler the other day, the radical Muslim has a theological worldview that calls for martyrdom per his eschatology, but even more important, since they don't have ANY ground of assurance for salvation built into their theology except for martyrdom it makes suicide the ultimate ticket guarantee to heaven.  A pretty powerful incentive for murder indeed.  Unfortunately most of our leaders are too politically correct to apprehend and identify this mindset publicly.

I'm not denying the possibility probability a terrorist gets through posed as a Syrian refugee. As a follower of Christ, I believe it is more important for a nation that wants to claim to be Christian to show compassion and love (and with love, vulnerability and risk) to those in need than to throw up walls and refuse to help those who we KNOW are in crisis.

Love takes risks. I understand that there is a 'battle of loves' here; love for our own countrymen vs. love for refugees. But if we want to claim to be a Christian country (as many Republicans claim), then by refusing to help the refugees, our country is trusting in 'horses and chariots', i.e. our military defense system instead of our God to protect us. That (Republican stance) by refusing to help those we can help to save our own hides is as anti-Christian as abortion.

His point is that those who claim that it is (or at some time was) are the very ones who put country before faith/obdience. Or so it would seem.
