In the other thread that I talked about going to the reformed church recently there were four “singers” on the left side of the church platform, and the musicians were on the right side. Of those four singers, one was much more clearly “performative” with their body gestures (including how they held the microphone). All of the interpretation of this sort of worship is obviously at least mildly subjective. That being said, I’d prefer that those who are bringing “specials” do their best to make their singing focused upon God and not bringing undue attention to themselves.
