If I were a women representative or senator and knew that he would meet with my male colleagues one-on-one at lunch but not me because I am a woman I might have an issue with that policy.

I'm sure paparazzi and other rumour-mongers also take issue with the policy. It means Pence's political opponents can't spread innuendo.

What if he was willing to meet with his female colleagues one-on-one elsewhere? The office boardroom, for example.

In all honesty if Trump can get elected after saying he grabbed women's private parts on tape I don't think innuendo means anything in Washington.

Pence is welcome to conduct business however it wants. Business lunches are part of the real world and a man and a woman meeting in a public place to discuss business is not going to cause questions except from maybe the most perverted. Meeting in a boardroom is fine but I say more about myself if I think that I will have zipper issues because I meet someone in a public place for lunch for business.
