Maybe people like to yank chains too much here and they know how to get a predictable response? Either way, to assume that the caricatures that are painted here about Baptists are always universally true is a bit jaded, and na?ve.
And my questions about which topic is more prevalent were serious, not coy. You made the claim, with the assumption that it was obvious which theme(s) was more abundant. I just asked for evidence of your claim.
[size=12pt]my opinion of fundamental baptists didn;t come entirely from this website....... i have other real world examples i have both learned from.... and also was been taught about... by someone who spent more time deeper in the heart of it than you have.......
and i already gave you evidence of what i claimed...... 5 threads posted in the past 2 years and that was without even looking that hard...... ... you posted 1 sermon from a guy who died eleven years ago and it;s only loosely related to the topic i asked about........ i would say thats evidence enough of which theme was being focused on the most here and which one is mostly ignored......... Were those "fundamental Baptists" that you refer to of the Hyles/Gray/Vineyard (Indy-Fundy KJVo) strain?
And as I said about your claim regarding Tarheel, do you not fathom that he is a pot-stirrer? What you mistake for obsession might very well be merely "setting the hook" and then the chase is on.

And lastly, I asked for evidence of your claims that there was more of an emphasis within Scriptures on some of the themes in my checklist, not evidence that the topic of immodesty occurs more on the forum than other particular topics.
If that is the case (the bold above) would you consider that right or wrong?
ALAYMAN said:aleshanee said:some were and some were not..... but what does it matter?.......
I think it would matter greatly if the person's perspective was colored by relationships that they had forged with Baptists that were largely from the kind known for their "militant" views (often rightly referred to as IFBx on here), rather than more moderate grace-oriented ones. The strain that comes from Norris and Hyles variety is somewhat notorious for majoring on the minors and hypocrisy.

It's only right if some IFB extremist position is constantly referenced.
That's true, you can ask your Pastor.

i have no doubt the both of you prefer to see yourselves as a couple of pavlovians ringing bells - - then musing over the results........ .......but neither of you is a professor pavlov and that;s not how other forum members see you...... ...

ummmm, you sure do know how to win friends and influence people. This *is* called the "fighting" forum for a reason. People don't generally come here to play nice. And the posts that consist of prodding and poking come from all corners of the denominational spectrum. The cals gig the free-willies. The drinkers mock the abstentionists. Freebirds and Pharisees lay the smack down on each other. It's a daily thing that you can set you watch to. It's been that way since the first iteration of the FFF, and me and Pavlov aren't even close to being alone.

I don't look down on anyone...I've stated my position more than once on this thread. You seem to take issue with the fact that I would not allow my teen daughters to go on a date in Daisy Duke shorts and a halter top. I didn't and I still wouldn't, but that's just me using my uncommon sense....others may feel differently, which is their perogative.
And you've spent a looog time here showing that you don't give a rat's behind....![]()
and you have come back multiple times to keep reminding us of how obtuse you are ... ...... i took issue with you equating certain types of clothing common to the culture i live in with being the attire of a harlot..... ....
you appeared to step back from that statement .... but then you and alayman both continued to do what he calls "stirring the pot" on the issue... and what you referred to as a "pavlovian experiment"... ...... while he went on with condescending trash talk about me as if i was some kind of newbie on the forum who didn;t know this was a "fighting" forum......
and so..... as far as i;m concerned.... you can both go kiss a rats behind.........
did that help clear up any confusion for you?..........
