I wonder if he still gets royalties on his media?

I still check my mailbox each day for the missing pages to The Wisdom Manual.

I was in a dorm room at Baptist City with 7 other guys.

8?  Sounds less like a dorm "room" and more like a stockyard.

Each Baptist City dorm room had four rooms to it.  Each room had a bunk bed.  The bad thing was the one bathroom.  My Sophomore year there were 4 of us in the same area.  It was great.

started w/ eight my freshman year. By time I got married I was in one with two and a half!

Two and a half?!?  Was one of them a midget?

I was coming from Tennessee Temple in Jan of 79. I knew of the hair requirements and had gotten a short hair cut. I was waiting by the information desk for my sister and Stan Harris came up to me and introduced himself and proceeded to tell me I needed a haircut. I was shocked. My hair was way  shorter than at Temple. Was assigned to Baptist City and met my first roommate and his name was Bink. I began to wonder what I had gotten in to. Then I met two other roommates Zane Abberger ( great friend to this day) and Jim Donahue. Great guys who helped get me through the first semester I was there.

Bink.

Was he later on staff?

Had to be Bink Spizak!

I recall getting on a plane in Raleigh, NC with my classmate and good buddy from school, Taylor Gordy, and being scared to death to leave home...while excited at the same time.

I had planned on going to "Jack Hyles' college" since I was in third grade.

There were already a lot of people from my church there, so I did not think I would be homesick.

I fell in love with Chicago on the shuttle ride from O'Hare to the college.

What do you remember about dorm life?

I remember arriving at campus and the theme was a hoe down or something like that

I got my room assignment and will never forget the look on two of my high school friends' faces.  They were upperclassmen and recognized my dorm assignment.

Miss Cooper

Oh, the stories I could tell.

I was in a two room the size of my closet at home.

My roommate was on work scholarship, so she moved in a week early and had set up camp.

She was from Ohio and we had a hard time communicating for quite a while.  :)

We ended up being friends.

Then, I started dating her sister's old boyfriend.....

In registration line, I realized that no matter how cool Chicago looked from the window of a bus, no matter how many people were there from my church, no matter how long I had wanted to be a HAC student....I missed home and my parents and even my brother and sister.

I was so lonely and scared to death.

I was alone in line with a gazillion people around me.

Shy.

Seriously, I was shy.

When I stepped up to the table and gave my name, some loud mouthed Yankee behind me asked me to repeat what I just said.

I obeyed.  :)

He asked me to say it again.

So I did.

He asked again.

I turned around and rolled my eyes at him.

He's been one of my best buddies since that day.

PS He still doesn't understand half of what I say.  :)

And my room had brick walls!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a little ceramic doodad by the door.

I later learned that it was for holy water.

I wondered if I was in a cult.

What do remember about your first day in a FBCH ministry?

I did not join a ministry for a few weeks.  I thought I would try out a few before making that commitment.

I'm not sure why I did that.

I tried Bible Club and fell in love with the concept of ministering to public school kids to entice them to come play basketball, feed them, and then preach.

I stayed in that ministry all four years.

When I was there, Bible Clubs were not recognized as an 'approved' ministry; therefore, it did not count for my required one year of ministry service.  My preacher's daughter was engaged to Rim Tasmussen and he let me be on his route often enough to count it. :)

No bus captain could have put up with you in an enclosed area like a bus for more than 10 minutes.

What memories do you have of your first chapel and church service?

First chapel service.

Excitement
Loud
A boat load of white shirts

As loud as I was, you are probably right.
