The game last year was the Cowboys and the Giants. A huge draw last year.

Wink away my friend. The Eagles are the rivalry team creating problems for the Cowboys this year. When Cowboys/Eagles played on November 19th it was the highest rated prime time game since week one...up 13% from the comparable game last year. I guess the boycott is not in vogue when it is a great match up ;)

They are the only league dealing with a major controversy right now so it would be common sense that their unfavorable ratings would be higher than any sport. I love both baseball and football but I am a baseball guy first and foremost. Having said that the truth is that football captures the imagination of fans in a way that baseball does not currently. The World Series does not generate the same excitement for most fans the way the Super Bowl does. Every sport has peaks and valleys but to imply that the kneeling during the anthem is going to kill football is foolish.

If the strike in 1994 in baseball that caused the World Series not to be played did not kill baseball then kneeling during the anthem for a good cause (even if you do not agree with the method) is not going to kill football. As the commissioner stated that even in down times it is still some of the most watched TV.

It appears blasting the boycott has some financial repercussions also.

Someone wrote that if their pizza didn't taste like cardboard with ketchup and cheese whiz, it might actually sell better.

Wow, that's an awfully generous description. Their pizza is definitely some of the worst out there.

Problem is the pizza was selling at 13% higher until he blasted the players in the boycott.

I had Papa John's pizza the other night and it tasted no worse or no better than any other chain.

I've never tasted chain so I wouldn't know.

I am sure some stayed home due to protest and others stayed home cause ticket prices went up 4.7% to 10.3%.

Cancelling the game may have had something to do with the last time a game was broadcast on a New Years Eve on Sunday night was 2006 and the numbers of viewers was down by a quarter of the average of that season. As the article noted it was thought to be Brett Farve's last game and viewing was still down.

And yet they are NFL games are still the highest rated live sports on TV and advertisers still scramble to advertise on the telecasts as they draw high numbers of young male viewers.
