Does anyone actually listen to NPR? In all the years I've been listening to radio, whether in my home or car, I know I've never tuned in to NPR.
Then you have no idea what you are missing do you?
I listen regularly. I love many of the weekend programs like Car Talk and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell me. Prairie Home Companion is slow motion hilarity. When I am home alone in the evening I listen to Marketplace, The World and On Point.
As for Diane Rehm, she is quite possible the worst excuse for a Journalist I have ever had the misfortune of listening to.
I too see and acknowledge the liveral bias of most of the NPR lineup. That said, I know of no other news source that offers as in depth coverage of issues (yes, the "other" side does get plenty of air time ) and broad range of subject matter. Again, with the exception of Diane Rehm, the NPR programing is the antithesis of what passes for news today. Conversations that are not just people yelling talking points over top of each other. Hosts that actually moderate and do not let the guests interrupt each other. Respectful interactions even when they disagree with the speaker.
The key thing for me is that I actually learn when I listen to NPR
. I have never herd a host rudely hang up on a caller ala Rush or Hannity. Of course those aren't news shows they are entertainment outlets stroking the preconceived notions of their fan boys.
