I don't mean to make light of a serious subject but I believe too many Christians are living in fear of something they have no control over. It was pointed out that the main difference in those who call themselves "dispensationalists" and those who don't comes down to whether they believe God is through with Israel as a nation or not.
The more I read of Robert Van Kampen and those who espouse the "pre-wrath" rapture the more I am convinced they are wrong but I am not the final authority and respect their position. They talk about dispensationalists cutting the Bible up to make it fit what they want to believe but I have never heard anything more extreme than trying to give Satan credit for what God takes credit for. The seal and trumpet judgments originate from the throne of God (Rev 6:1; 8:2) and when you get to Revelation 15 and the bowl judgements we are told plainly that with them
"the wrath of God is finished." God takes credit for
all the judgements that take place from Revelation 4 through 19. The apostle Paul talks about this time when God will pour out His
"tribulation" and
"vengeance" on all those who don't know God and have rejected the gospel (2 Thess 1:6-10). That isn't the Church.
It is
impossible for anyone to receive
"the mark of the Beast" at this time because the Antichrist and false prophet are not in power, there is no temple in Jerusalem, and no seven year peace treaty has been signed by Israel. When the world looks at Christians cringing in fear of coming events they have no control over do you think the world wants that kind of Christianity? I believe the return of Christ is
"imminent" and it is a
"blessed hope" filled with comfort. So even if the Pope or anyone else endorses the RFID chip as something good who cares?
I will say once again. The "mark of the beast" is
not the
unpardonable sin and those who actually do take it will have an opportunity to repent (turn their allegiance from the Beast to Christ), believe the gospel and be saved (Rev 14:6,7). This is the time known as
"Jacob's Trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7).
