I about feel off my chair when a famous twice divorced Charismatic gave a campaign speech, thinly veiled as a personal testimony, at FBCH Sunday night.

See what you think.

A simple internet search will tell you all you need to know about this guy, scary.
There is so much documented info on him it would take you months to review it all.

I would hope she would be there this Sunday to give equal time to Trump, at least he's not trying to get elected using religion.

And while we are at it we should have Kasich guy too, just to make things fair.

So if you were offended why did you not get up and walk out.

Cruz is still my second choice, but having his dad come in and give a stump speech disguised as a testimony is quit low.

It would be stupid to walk out I might miss something.

I love the Bible so I can not be offended.

"Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them."

I cannot believe the number of people who have called to thank me for posting these.

Word sure gets out doesn't it.

When Raphael Cruz stood to speak, immediately I was worried.... I think there was good reason Dr. Hyles (and even to his credit, Jack Schaap) never had politicians speak from the pulpit.,,, except maybe the Mayor / Governor to welcome the Pastor's School crowd.  I think you open yourselves to all kinds of potential issues when the Church gets involved in politics.

BG, you may have just thrown the Indiana Primary to Trump!

Late last night I got a couple of calls from people that told me Rafael creeped them out while he was speaking.

These were both older deacons, my friends.

They had been supporting Cruz until they heard his dad speak.

One of them said he was going to early vote this morning for Trump, he was so turned off by Rafael using religion to promote his son.

The meltdown Cruz had on Hannity yesterday, I'm sure, was also a factor.

I cannot Stand Ted Cruz.  I think he is arrogant, pompous piece of garbage who treats truth like a whore.

However he is the only one whose platform is closest to what I believe.  Sadly.  I will hold my nose and vote for him as one of the my most disliked people I have ever cast a ballot for as strictly a matter of conscience, because I know the other guys have proven politics that are against what I believe out of the gate.

The issues most people probably had with Rafael is that he is Pentecostal and most Baptist who have not been around nor heard a hard core Pentecostals naturally are "creeped out".

Perhaps it is because I was raised Pentecostal that I don't see the "creep factor". What exactly is it that is so creepy about this guy? Of course he is going to use religion to try and gain votes: This is no different than any other candidate trying to secure votes from special interest groups. But I don't see anything "creepy". Please enlighten me.

I, too, wonder about the creep factor.
I thought it rather interesting, and find Mr. Cruz to be rather gentlemanly.

As far as churches  and politics, were it not for churches and preachers  mixing with politics,  we might not have this great nation we have.

Good Point

It is your church and you will have to attend there next Sunday. Disagreeing with who the pastor lets speak is an serious thing.

My next question is, in addition to posting on an internet forum that you were creeped out at this, why don't you and the other older deacons go to Pastor Wilkerson's office and in a respectful way tell him how you feel about Mr. Cruz speaking in church.

It may come as a surprise to you that I do not find disagreeing with the pastor to be a problem in the least.

As Baptists we are free to think for ourselves and not have a man tell us what to believe. That is a new thing at FBCH, not practiced in the past.

For example we disagree profoundly on Faith Promise Giving, but it's not worth fighting over.

I did not say it creeped me out, two deacon friends told me that.

I am quit aware of Rafael's dominionist theology. I had studied him before that.
I knew what he would say. That same stump speech has been given continuously as he stumps for Ted. He sees Ted as the Messiah and King who will impose his religion upon America to save it. Are you ok with that theology?

I do not see a need to go as a group. We always have the Saturday meetings.

For some reason posting in FFF gets quick changes.

Remember the girl girl love symbol?

If this kind of Theology, Dominianist, does not scare you to death you are not paying attention.
