I've read some very stupid things from you before.... but this has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read from you.

I reckon Christ died to redeem a turd from your local sewer system.....
What's interesting about this is that you stated a while back that you were going to change how you engage with people on this forums. I cautiously accepted what you said and told you I'd give you the benefit of the doubt but wanted to see evidence of it over time.

I guess I have the evidence I need....

Join in like you do in prayer... in your head! Dingbat!
Whoever said I didn't?  I listen, intently, to the words. Sometimes, I isolate an instrument, the drum, whatever.  I usually sing along 'softly', if I already know and agree with the words...much to my wife's dismay.

Anishinaabe
you are one sick piece of work.........

....but the choice of whether or not to be like michal ...in the regard of dying barren and childless ...was already made for me when i was 9 years old through a chain of events that started when i was 5..... everybody here that knows me at all knows that...... and your not so veiled attempt at crude humor is well noted.....
And you suffer from a persecution complex. Oh yeah...and all this "crude humor" you seem to see everywhere tells me more about you than probably anything else.
scripture doesn;t say whether michal was wrong or david was right in that incident.... all we know is that michal shamed david for what, even he, admitted was a vulgar public display..... and then he in turn cursed her for it... withheld himself from her....and she died barren and childless........ but that;s far from the end of the story.......
No. Scripture is quite clear about who was in the right and who was in the wrong in this case. Just because you ignore what is clearly being taught (and what has been affirmed by both Jews and Christians for thousands of years) because the teaching pretty plainly says you are wrong on the issue of public displays of worship doesn't change the truth of what Scripture actually says.
david then went on to steal the wife of a dear and devoted friend and murdered him in order to keep that mans wife for himself......after that the sword never left his house.... one of his sons raped a sister and then was killed by another son in retribution.... then when that son was killed by another devoted friend of david ..after staging armed rebellion against his fathers kingdom .... david cried out in anguish that he wished to God he could have died in his stead......

so you can go ahead and be like david as much as you like.... complete with his lack of discretion and his lack of judgement in regards to how he treated women...
To be called a man after God's own heart...

...if that is my legacy, I will be eternally thankful.

Yes. I'll acknowledge that I am not better than David. I'll acknowledge that I am infected by sin and do the things I don't want to do because my flesh is weak. Paul didn't have a problem admitting the same thing. Do you?

You're getting upset because I used the word "stupid"? Really? You really are empty of anything remote resembling common sense. You then turn around and ignore any cooth in dealing with aleshanee? You really are a piece of CRAP. How do you like that word?

By the way. You might have noticed that every time the word "all" is used in the Scriptures....it doesn't necessarily mean ALL of EVERY kind. You know this. If you don't know this.... then I'll just have to go back to that "stupid" word.

Absolutely no one with any theological training at all.... would make such a stupid argument.

What a mixture....

No. Scripture is quite clear about who was in the right and who was in the wrong in this case.

In that case. Sure. Extending such to include every instance of so called "worship" or "praise" is rather stupid. Sorry rsc2a. You're not David and God didn't divinely inspire you to do anything similar to what he did. Sorry buddy..... you really need to stop thinking that way. Its rather childish.

Or do you think N.T. Wright doesn't have any theological training at all?  ::)

“It is central to Christian living that we should celebrate the goodness of creation, ponder its present brokenness, and, insofar as we can, celebrate in advance the healing of the world, the new creation itself. Art, music, literature, dance, theater, and many other expressions of human delight and wisdom, can all be explored in new ways.” ― N.T. Wright, Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense

“What you do in the present—by painting, preaching, singing, sewing, praying, teaching, building hospitals, digging wells, campaigning for justice, writing poems, caring for the needy, loving your neighbor as yourself—will last into God’s future. These activities are not simply ways of making the present life a little less beastly, a little more bearable, until the day when we leave it behind altogether. They are part of what we may call building for God’s kingdom.” ― N.T. Wright, Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church

“Art at its best draws attention not only to the way things are but also to the way things will be, when the earth is filled with the knowledge of G-D as the waters cover the sea. That remains a surprising hope, and perhaps it will be the artists who are best at conveying both the hope and the surprise.”
― N.T. Wright, Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church

“It is a matter of glimpsing that in God's new creation, of which Jesus's resurrection is the start, all that was good in the original creation is reaffirmed. All that has corrupted and defaced it--including many things which are woven so tightly in to the fabric of the world as we know it that we can't imagine being without them--will be done away. Learning to live as a Christian is learning to live as a renewed human being, anticipating the eventual new creation in and with a world which is still longing and groaning for that final redemption.” ― N.T. Wright, Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense

Can you not do your own homework?

Another good one:

“The New Testament picks up from the Old the theme that God intends, in the end, to put the whole creation to rights.”― N.T. Wright, Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense

Since this the only quote you provided that has anything to do directly with "music".... I'll use this. I would like to point out that you posted an entirely different reference than the book you first posted.

First NT. Wright is an idiot. An Anglican idiot at that. A worshiper of sacramental tradition. A man that claims to not being able to recall a time he wasn't aware of the presence and love of God. He even claims that at 4 years of age he total overwhelmed by the presence and love of God to the point he wept. He also exposes "soul sleep". Call the man "trained" all you like. All the "training" in the world will not help some people. Obviously its very telling that you enjoy such a man.... even promoting his silly beliefs.

Question?

Where do you see a "turd" fitting in the Kingdom of Heaven?

I guess since you said it, it must be true.  ::)

As I've said here before, most/many in this contemporary generation would whitewash the Sistine Chapel's ceiling and replace it with gang graffiti!

So, are you saying this because rap most often is art from the AA communities? Would you say this if the artist was playing a banjo and singing the words in a southern twang rather than rapping? Would that then be "wholesome"?
