Restored Fallen Pastors

Carl Lentz of Hillsong. Fired for having an affair and is now back in ministry. He's definitely the poster child for "rock star" celebrity pastors who are unqualified.
Brian Houston of Hillsong. Currently in hot water for knowing about sexual abuse in his church.
Mark Crow from Oklahoma City. Started the Victory Church franchise and resigned after he admitted to having an affair and started up another megachurch in the area.
Blaine Bartel. Fired from his Dallas megachurch for adultery and having multiple affairs. Now he's calling himself America's "Greatest Comeback Coach" and is a coach to men on overcoming porn addiction and he's also on the Evangelical Woke/Socialism Train.
Bishop Eddie Long. Prosperity/TBN preacher was apparently grooming young men was accused but his church covered up for him. He sadly passed away in 2017.

Of course there are scores of IFB pastors who have been fired/accused of sexual abuse/misconduct. Surprisingly Jack Hyles was never caught and neither was another controversial IFB pastor Jim Vineyard.

If they were dumb enough to be "groomed," then they probably got what they wanted in the first place. If they're adults and they try to claim this...they're lying through their teeth.

I totally forgot about the Haggard media drama from years ago. I was just re-reading about him. I’m not excusing his behavior at all, but the fact that he claims to have been molested at 7 years old does help explain his behavior and issues later in life. The guy’s in his 60s now, so I’m sure it was swept under the rug and he probably never got any counseling for it.

How the mighty have fallen. He lost his TBN ministry and used to boast how the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies players attended his church.

Also in the video showman Perry Noble starts up his new megachurch "Second Chances Church" where he's the star of the show. Five years later his new megachurch is getting rave reviews on Google. He does put on a pretty good show it seems.

I've watched a few of Perry Noble's church services on YouTube. He definitely knows how to put on a show. He also seems to like "gimmick" services. He had a "Red Neck Sunday" service a few weeks ago where the opening song was about beer and pick-up trucks. Those kinds of services just turn my stomach. Ugh.
 
Thankfully, I'm not stupid enough to waste my time watching a heretical preacher either on the tele or on YouTube, or on any other source. If I know they don't preach the Bible, I don't waste my time on them.
 
I was reading through DA Carsons' book and came across this salient point:
"Applied to God, the sentimental view generates a deity with all the awesome holiness of a cuddly toy, all the moral integrity of a marshmallow. In the previous lectures, I briefly documented this point with examples from films and books. Applied to Christians, the sentimental view breeds expectations of transcendental niceness. Whatever else Christians should be, they should be nice, where “niceness” means smiling a lot and never ever hinting that anyone may be wrong about anything (because that isn’t nice). In the local church, it means abandoning church discipline (it isn’t nice), and in many contexts it means restoring adulterers (for instance) to pastoral office at the mere hint of broken repentance. After all, isn’t the church about forgiveness? "

This is just my thought about restoring pastors: there is no restoring there is no change. They are masters at lying, etc . to get what they want...I totally understand why people never walk in a church again after being abused by pastors. Just my thoughts on this early Sunday morning. I've witnessed this abused when I was younger not now. Thank you God

My wife and I have been recipients of pastoral abuse in several churches, and we've learned that at the first sign of abuse to go to the deacons. If that doesn't work, we leave. If the deacons want to help perpetuate this kind of behavior, they're just as liable. We also let our friends in each church know exactly why we left if asked. It's no skin off our noses any longer. This is such a prevalent thing these days with so many pastors thinking they're "god" instead of letting GOD be God. I don't worship any man...period.

Mainly IFB churches. We did have one experience with an SBC church in our area where I was a part of the staff (unofficially) and after a church split where both the pastor and assistant pastor left with the split I had stayed and was pastoring. The deacon that had caused the split became abusive, stalking my wife and having members threaten both of us with bodily harm, where we finally pulled a Martin Luther and posted our resignation on the church door and pulpit for the whole congregation to see. We had been working to get the two sides to reconcile, but that wasn't the wish of this "head" deacon. He, after several weeks of negotiations that seemed to be working, increased the attacks, and my wife and I left before a Wednesday evening service and joined the split.
 
I am currently helping my daughter who is being contacted by a local pastor during the middle of the night. She has the text messages and has been told to stop. Again, a few months later, the person is going through Instagram This guy is trying to groom her. He is married. Has teenaged kids and is lead pastor of a church in our area... AND... he is currently preaching through a series on "Marriage."
Will create a new thread on dealing with this kind of thing...

Contact the police and let them walk through this with you. This is why I trust no one
