This was in our local paper Saturday.
Anyone familiar with evangelist C T Townsend?

For some reason I seem to remember him being out of Victory Baptist in North Augusta...Brown's church.

Billy

His ministry is out of Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina, Pastor, Dr. Ralph Sexton Jr.

He does a lot of camp meetings in the deep south. Preaches with Dr. Joe Arthur some.

He has a few sermons on Sermon Audio (http://www.sermonaudio.com/)
If I remember right he does a lot of summer camps.

Dozens of congregations expected at month-long revival

What if the Holy Spirit decides to stick around longer than a month?

Or, what if the Holy Spirit doesn't show up at all?

There's something about a scheduled "revival" that has always rubbed me the wrong way. I've viewed them as more of a week long, or month long, motivational conference. "Hey, let's get everyone pumped up, and then when the visiting evangelist goes home, everything returns to normal."

Or maybe I'm just getting more cynical the older I get.

As I understand it, this meeting began on Mother's Day in a local church (across town from me).
It was originally scheduled to be a week of meetings.
They have extended the meeting for a week at a time and now are moving it from the church to this tent, which will seat 3000. I assume that they would be open to further extending the services.

So, they are following the lead of the Holy Spirit...at least up to this point.
I pray that it is indeed a move of God among His people and that it spreads...I may attend once or twice next week.

He surpassed the total of ALL NC churches in anything resembling the Lord moving.

Unless you count an offering over $2500.

Is anyone here fluent in whatever language Jim Jones is speaking?
If so, please interpret that post.
Thank you in advance.  ;)

Shush, you. He's a gentleman who would never barge in, so presumably he won't overstay his welcome either.

Good move. The Holy Spirit can really only do his best work in a tent.

We shall see. :)
The move to the tent was because of space, I believe.

I have yet to attend, but may go next week.
The church sponsoring the meeting is a little too much 'run the aisle shouting glory' camp meeting style for me.  :)

Not aware of the details but absolutely LOVE hearing this!

As I understand it, the use of tents is to accommodate a larger crowd than a single church building will hold. Many tent or camp meetings are held in cooperation with several local churches with many members. Renting a building that will hold 3000 people for several weeks of services can be very difficult in most areas.

There are many who also like the atmosphere a tent provides in the same way kids going to camp experience a different spiritual environment to make decisions. I don't think the tent is the important factor in any successful meeting, it's just a matter of convenience .

The first meeting under the tent last night had over 2500 in attendance with 30+ professions of faith in Christ. I was planning to attend, but had to go out of town to a funeral. Begins again Monday night and will continue every weeknight thru June. It can't be denied that something unusual is happening...

Big Tent Revival was a pretty good band.  :D

Last night's meeting under the tent:
5100 in attendance
85 professions of faith in Christ.

There is no doubt that this is an unusual move....300 churches represented with buses from all over NC, many from SC and VA.

Yes, he is the gauge by which we measure all that is spiritual in America.

Any idea the total number of salvations?

I think well over 300 have made professions of faith, but that could be an underestimate.
