I think that might instigate them into a lawsuit or harassing you at the very least. They seem to enjoy that

I didn't refuse them service. On what grounds would they sue?
No you didn't refuse to serve them but by showing only heterosexuals in your propaganda materials ...

:o

I won't put that on my t-shirts either!

When Jesus served the 5000, I wonder if he took a poll to see who was gay so they could be left out. :)

On another scenario that could possible fit - what if you were a cake decorator and a skin head wanted you to make a cake with a swastika on it.  Would you do it?

I've thought a couple days about this. The swastika is an intentional symbol of hate and offense to others. I don't see that I would make that cake but I would offer other ideas that did not include that symbol.

Sub make mention of making a T-shirt with "F-U" on it. I would put this in the same category, as that the shirt is meant to be offensive to those who read it.

In general, the purpose of a gay wedding is not to be offensive so that is how I would differentiate between the illustrations. If people are offended by that, it is of their own choice (and why would they be at a gay wedding anyway?). I am against war as an offensive threat. In that realm, I would not turn down a military cake for a military family with guns and ammo decorations on it. Their intent is not to be offensive but to recognize the life of the participant. And by-in-large, military in general is not offensive to the general public, though it may be to some leftists.

Aye there is the rub. The baker is forced to participate. He has no "choice" due to baking being his profession.

Just a thought: When Jesus spoke of people eating his flesh and drinking his blood, he put it that way to be offensive to unbelievers.

Then why didn't He say it TO unbelievers?

He did. They exposed their unbelief when they left Him.

Or if you were a homosexual with a  bakery and Westboro Baptist wanted you to make them a cake.

If it were not going to be used with the purpose of propagate their hate, I probably would.

Assuming I were a gay, Christ-following baker. :)

I'm on planet Earth, not planet Moonbat.
Yeah well you go print up those t-shirts and the moon AND Fruit bats will be visiting Canada vying for your membership to their club
Some are NAMBLA members too obviously so maybe you'll get a two for one membership offer

Let me know how that works for ya

If baking a cake used in a gay wedding is considered participation in the marriage, then shouldn't selling a gun used in a shooting also be considered as participation?

Only if the gun store knew the gun would be used in a shooting when they sell the gun.

A more accurate analogy would be should a gun store have the right to refuse to sell a gun to a murderer because they believe murder is morally wrong?

A business owner can refuse to serve anyone for any reason. I just keep the reasons to myself.

I have had to refuse service for various reasons.

Marijuana dispensary
Fetish sites
Porn websites
Gambling site
A philandering anti-Semitic dentist who wanted his online reputation cleared up

I have/had gay clients: massage therapy, dog breeding, computer sales.

I once had reason to believe a gay client was part of an ONION serving up sexually elicit material. I dropped him without actually seeing the material. The FBI agreed with my decision.

I have no issue with this. You weren't discriminating against someone because they were gay. I believe there is a difference between discriminating against issues than there is discriminating against people of a different stripe.

Wedding bakers/florists/caterers etc. are expected to do far more than merely provide goods and receive payment. The lawsuit against florist Barronelle Stutzman required her to provide not only the flower arrangements and delivery, but custom decorations, on-site support, and assistance to the wedding party.

In other words, it's more like selling the gun, engraving "All the best for your life of crime" on the barrel, and staying with the shooter in the bell tower to ensure that he had an ample supply of ammunition and the rifle remained in good working order throughout the shooting spree.

No one has argued that gays should be refused goods or services merely because they were gay. The aforementioned florist had sold flowers to the same-sex couple for a decade, and they had a cordial business relationship before they decided to sue her. She simply drew the line at participating in a ceremony that violated her conscience. The same is true of that pizzeria that said they wouldn't cater a gay wedding - they explicitly stated that they wouldn't refuse to serve anyone who patronized their business.

(Incidentally, I think the proper response to the question should have been, "Of course we deliver, we're a pizza place, duh. What's your credit card number?")

Maybe they drew the line at having to arrange the pepperoni to say "buttsex".
