Good Works shine. Not arguable.
Going to every house, to see who will receive you in Jesus' name, will allow you to share the Light.
Passing out literature in public areas, will allow the Light to spread.
Allowing The Spirit to steer one on one conversations toward the Gospel, spreads the Light.
Leaving the Scripture in Hotel rooms shares the Light.
Debating doctrine with all who call themselves by Christ's name, allows the Light to spread.
Why would anyone downplay any one method?
Ex. : I taught a 6 week long ( Mon nights 1-1/2 hours) course on Personal Evangelism, this Spring, to a local assembly of believers.
After the run of the course, the assembly began knocking doors in the community, which they had previously not done.
This assembly visited Nursing homes, jails, and the homeless, but wasn't reaching its communities families.
In the last 8 weeks:
1.new families have visited every week.
2. A couple of Heroin addicts have been saved, married, baptized, and will be added as full members at the next vote.
3. Several others have been saved, several baptized.
This church is becoming zealous in evangelism, and lives are being transformed, and the spark that kicked it off was door-knocking.
And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
And when ye come into an house, salute it.
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Matthew:10:11-14
This method is not unproductive.
It creates as much opportunity as any other.
There are hundreds of people assembling every week with other believers, whose door I personally knocked.
It works in Gary, Indiana.
It works in Chicago, IL.
It works in Sault Ste Marie, MI.
It works in Gardendale, AL.
It works in Pasco, WA.
And it works in Inuit villages in rural Alaska.
Visit a hut.
Visit a wigwam.
Visit a condo.
Visit a townhouse.
Visit an apt.
Visit an estate.
Visit a shack.
Visit a trailer.
Visit a teepee.
Visit a hogan.
Visit a pueblo.
Visit a bungalow.
Visit a 3-flat.
Visit a housing project.
Visit the burbs.

I spent some time today knocking doors with an older gentleman in our church. We met a lady who invited us in. During our visit, she introduced us to her deceased WW2 hero father, shared why she became a police officer and retired early after an injury on duty. She shared some about living alone and why she quit going to church. We talked about doctrines and dogs. As we were leaving, she thanked us for stopping by her house. She made the statement: "I think God knows I have been looking for an excuse to go to church, so He sent you by."
I believe home to home evangelism still works.

I'm IFB. I travel in that circle. Can't remember the last time ANYONE said ANYTHING about the SBC....

I've attended a IFB church my entire adult life. I have always sensed that it was "us and them" mentality.
Recently we have been visiting SBC's and my sense thus far is that "we are in this together going in the same direction".

About 3 years ago, I became a member of and Pastor of an SBC church.
Not one iota of difference in the operation of, spirit of or function of...
And that's a fact!
