Standards of dress

On the FFF, the same attitude is displayed on both sides of the aisle.
The on-going irony to me is the judgement displayed by some Freebirds in condemning the same *hated* attitude in X-ers.

And, I often find myself displaying that same attitude while condemning that attitude....
On the FFF, there's plenty of blame to go around. :)

I may be mistaken but I haven't read where anyone is criticizing women who wear dresses. On the other hand, being critical of women who make other wardrobe choices...

Which is why I avoided this place after the last one crashed.  It seems that judgment and nastiness still abound here.
I wish it wasn't so, but when people hide behind anonymity they feel like they can say anything.
And before you say it, anyone who asks me privately and will return the sharing, I do tell my real name to.  So 90% of the HACers here know who I am.

You're mistaken.  if you were on the other forum at all.  I was berated CONSTANTLY by the FREEEEEEEEbirds for the way I dressed and dressed my girls.  I posted a picture once of us together and the vitriol and nastiness was incredible.  People calling my precious girls ugly was so hurtful.

...and one more thing.....it is really hard to read ones tone through a written post.  I know I am guilty of reading things that aren't there.  Maybe if we <myself included> feel attacked we should ask the intent before we fly off?

I know who you are and we actually like each other in real life.  Funny how that works.

Great! So you can provide a link where people active in this thread have critiqued your dress? Because I can easily provide links in this very thread where gals who wore otherwise were condemned.

That makes me SICK. And I am sorry that anyone treated you with such cruelness.

I will not.  I told you when/where this happened and you are ignoring me and looking for a fight that I won't give you.  Go fight with someone else.

Oh, just STOP.  Really.  She doesn't need to provide anything.  Go away.

Sure. False accusations are a great thing until you get called on them.

It was awful.  I had made them the cutest little culottes, and one gal like Sponge Bob so I made hers from Sponge Bob fabric so WOW I got it from BOTH sides.  I was evil for dressing my gals in ugly culottes and I was evil for allowing them to watch Sponge Bob.
I am evil incarnate.  A Swamp Hag as it were.

Many regulars here know and are known.....I'm no Hyles alum but I know who you are...one of the good 'guys'. But this place, like the other place, is what it is and I've learned to respond in kind....and try to separate position from personality.

We...I...tend to forget that everyone here, loons, idiots or good guys struggle and fight the good fight in their personal lives every day. To me, this place is a diversion and often entertainment, but at times I have crossed the line.
And, I'm  the only one here who I will have to account for....

I am not trying to be divisive.  I am trying to show you ladies that wear pants that you are just as judgmental about *my* clothing choices.

Directed to participants in this thread.

Ah contraire, my little scornful friend, I have been critical in several posts of woman who wear dresses who have no concern for others.

IMO, ONE reason IB are loosing young people AND those that are older not old but those coming in, in there 30's or so is this.

Pastors say no we are not judging you if your wife wears pants but she cannot teach Sunday School or be a leader and stand in front of children. But she can be a volunteer and clean the church or help in the nursery.

Nothing wrong with either cleaning or nursery but it does send, IMO, a mixed message.

It's been my experience that the pastors attitude is if, she doesn't want to get on board with us that's fine she just won't teach and so on and so forth.

Which IMO, is very, very, very sad. The family "lines up" with the church except in one area and the wife is reduced to cleaning and nursery.  In all honesty I've seen it time and time again. And my heart breaks for these families. They want to do more for the Lord within the walls of the church and they are held back because of this.

And eventually leave and go somewhere where the wife can serve with liberty. And is not told, we love you and we do not judge you because of your pants (which is the ONLY issue) but it is a big enough sin that you cannot teach our children.

Sad!

I agree with your post...and have seen that attitude in play in many churches.
But, the evangelical church at large is also failing to reach/keep the younger generation...and they do not have the same standards or attitude you reference. In our ministry, ladies wear pants while they minister and serve....from the nursery to the platform but we are still lacking in reaching and keeping the same younger demographic.

I agree with you as well.  And yes I'm sure this is across the board, not being able to keep many do to various reasons.

I just think it sad that this one issue will drive some/many away.
