Standards of dress

Can I just say that we really need to work on our English skills.  Ha!  Sometimes we sound like a bunch of idiots with our poor use of the English language.  Just sayin'..... (ha! poor use of the English language right there!)

My SIL couldn't teach SS or sing in the choir because she wore pants. In her barn mucking stalls. Not at church mind you. At home doing chores. She asked the pastor about it and he said she should wear a skirt over top of the pants.

Apparently horses and cattle are at risk of stumbling if a brazen hussy wears pants to rake their bedding.

Many IFB churches will not let you work the nursery or clean the church if you were pants.

Tithing is the only role thats permitted in some IFB churches if your a women who wears pants.

Deuteronomy 22:5
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

In the OT were robes considered a mans garment? Or a woman's?

If I'm not mistaken if a man wore a robe it was excepted within the culture. Try wearing one today, it may be considered a woman's garment in our culture.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, not that the women would wear pants to church, I'm talking out side of church.

Granted, I've not been in every IFB church in the nation; but, the ones that I have been in would not keep a lady out of the choir, or forbid them to sing a solo, or keep them from teaching Sunday school if they wore pants at home.

Up to that point she had never worn pants to church in her life (I can't say for certain after that) so there was no issue. In fact it was her honestly asking the question that brought it to the pastor's attention. Then the boom came down. Gotta keep them heifers from seeing a heifer in pants dontcha know.

I choose respect and kindness.  The Bible is very clear on that.  And I am not gender confused.  I have a uterus.  It has produced children.

No, roles in a home I believe is a matter of the heart.

My wife wears pants and she performs her biblical role supremelly. I attempt to perform my biblical role as well. Her mother wears pants and and both her father and mother are biblical in their role as well.

The truth is that if I went home and talked to my wife and explained to her that I believe that her wearing pants is not what I believe God has for us, she would start wearing dresses only.

Roles in homes are a matter of the heart.
