Standards of dress

Are men's pants and jeans immodest because they are form fitting to their...ummmm....you know.  I don't think they were like that in Bible times.

And, I conclude by your silence that you are 'one'...which I can respect, but just say it!

What does it matter if it is me or if I'm just standing up for a few gals on here or if I'm just having fun?  You have to admit - this is fun (unless you have a chip on your shoulder or you are easily offended).  :)

And, once again, I didn't get an answer to my question.

Where do you stand on women's culottes that are modest and pleated like a skirt?  Like the Christian Womanhood pattern.

Ahhhhhhh! And there is the reason for starting this thread in the first place.  Not for real discussion, but simply for "fun".  No wonder I can't get serious answers to my questions!  They don't fit into your definition of "fun"!

And what about that judgment you just cast on anyone who may not be having fun?  (On either side.)  Did the gal who was left in tears because of some of the responses "have a chip on her shoulder" or "easily offended"?

You have one sick sense of humor.  I like it.

No, they have been the accepted attire of a man since our nations' founding.  Of course, I'm sure a man can get jeans that are definitely too tight.  I find a Speedo much more comfortable.

Actually, it is a serious thread.  I find it hard to "battle" back and forth without mixing in a little fun.

At our nation's founding, this was considered accepted women's attire:

So, the standard for women is from Bible times, but the standard for men is from our nation's founding?  That's not very consistent, is it?  At our nation's founding, modest women wouldn't DARE show their calf!

Does your wife wear skirts that show her calf????

They didn't wear knee-length skirts either. ;)

Come on.  At our nation's founding ladies wore dresses.  What was the year and occasion on the first woman wearing pants in the USA?

Just curious....who decided that "knee-length" was the accepted standard for modest dresses and skirts?  There was a time that would have been scandalous.

Culture.

Culture only matters when it falls in favor of Raider's opinions.

I'm sure those dresses were much longer than the dresses worn by the ladies in your church.  Just a guess.

Right, culture changes, Raider.

Seems to me that women in pants goes as far back as 470 B.C.

Yes, and woman wore dresses in the same culture.
