How can this be justified?

A new report based on testimonies of Israeli soldiers concludes the massive civilian death toll from last summer’s Israeli assault on Gaza resulted from a policy of indiscriminate fire. The Israeli veterans group Breaking the Silence released testimonies of more than 60 Israeli officers and soldiers which it says illustrate a "broad ethical failure" that "comes from the top of the chain of command." More than 2,200 Palestinians were killed in the assault, the vast majority civilians. On Israel’s side, 73 people were killed, all but six of them soldiers. During the 50-day operation, more than 20,000 Palestinian homes were destroyed, and hundreds of thousands of people are still displaced.

It sounds bad and it is bad....

BUT....

Force can only be meet with overwhelming FORCE.

Would you have rather that the death tolls "MATCH"!!!! Would that have been your perfect ending?

The article is also very liberal. They pretend that all of the casualties on the Palestinian side were "civilians"..... when that is far from the truth. The Palestinians could easily claim all the deaths were civilian!!!! Just how would you tell any difference???

Personally, If I was making the decision at the time, I probably would have wiped them off the face of the earth or at least driven them into Egypt.... on the very land that Egypt has offered to give them and they refuse to take.

Jesus didn't meet force with force. He met it with surrender. And that surrender showed to be the ultimate victory.

I believe Scripture says something about the wisdom of the world being foolishness and how the right way often seems like folly.

You're crazy!!!

Is Jesus going to use force when He returns? Simple question. Simple answer.

Surrender isn't an option when it comes to such battles. Even Christ will defeat His enemies with overwhelming force. Surrender doesn't defeat the devil and keep him from harming others. Only overwhelming power does.

Christ laid down His life. He didn't surrender. Maybe you should study English a little better. Surrender means to submit to the authority of another. JESUS... never did this. NEVER. Giving up your life to save another isn't surrendering!!!

I suspect if someone breaks in your house in an attempt to kill your children or rape and kill your wife.... "I Surrender" will be on your lips.........

Surrender only works when the righteous prevail. It doesn't work when the wicked win.

Force? Nope. More like glorious awe.

And I'm fine being crazy. Enjoy the world's way of doing things,

Palestinians use civilian homes, schools, churches. When they do that, they make them legitimate targets. Read the Geneva Code.

HE doesn't care. Jesus "surrendered" and everyone else should "surrender"!!! He's crazy!!!

14 I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. 15 Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.

17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 Still another angel, who had charge of the fire, came from the altar and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, “Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe.” 19 The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath. 20 They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

Yes, vengeance is the Lord's.  But it doesn't seem like the Lord is going to execute vengeance with love and flowers and people singing Kumbaya.

Rev. 19:11-16 said:
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

I'm sure it's just a mistranslation. When it reads "judges and makes war," it really means "spreads flowers and beads by the mighty power of his glorious awe."

It's an easy mistake to make.  Both have an "and" in them.

"The rules of engagement are: Any person at a distance that could put you at risk, you kill him with no need for clearance." Meaning, anyone at a distance of 200, 300, 400 meters from us, isn’t an ordinary civilian. According to IDF logic, he must be there for a reason, because an ordinary civilian would flee the area, and so, we must kill him with no need for clearance. For me, it was just spine-tingling. I said to him, "Let me get this straight. Any person I see in the neighborhood where we’re headed, I spot him and kill him?" He said, "Yes. Any sane person who sees a tank battalion in his neighborhood will run away. If he sticks around, then he’s up to something. And if he’s up to something, it’s against you. So shoot him." So I tried to dig a little deeper and asked, "What if it’s an innocent civilian?" He said, "There are no innocent civilians. Your presumption should be that anyone within the area of battle, 200, 300, 400 meters from you, is your enemy."

I don't see the problem here.  The Palestinians don't fight with an army.  If they did, then the above would be unreasonable.  They fight with civilians, so the only way for Israeli soldiers to protect themselves is to assume anyone on the battlefield who does not retreat from the forces could be a threat.

Even worse, the Palestinians use REAL civilians as meat shields by fighting from schools and hospitals.  It is despicable.

The modern state of Israel is NOT the Nation of Israel of scripture.

Carry on.

You can cut the head off a roach and it will continue to live until it starves to death.

What?  Aren't you starting an unrelated trivia thing?

Okay, then you should know that the tongue is the only muscle in your body that is only connected on one end.

But the modern state of Israel is our only consistently reliable ally in the region...and the only democracy.
So, your point is moot!

America doesn't want democracies. She wants lackeys.
