The Dangers of Replacing the Written Word with the Electronic Word

There is a new generation of Christians who have never read a Bible, know nothing about the Bible and get almost everything they know online.

You realize that their parents--people my age, who grew up without the Internet--didn't just die out when the zoomers started learning to read. We've had this technology just as long as them.

[quote[The idea of encouraging new Christians to avoid a physical Bible for whatever they may find online[/quote]

Who in blazes is telling new Christians to avoid physical Bibles?

I never said I was against digital Bibles, only pointing out the dangers of dumping the written word for whatever online text they may fall upon.

And you still have yet to support your contention that digital Bibles are a) going to be arbitrarily altered; and b) no one is going to notice and they'll go right along uncritically with what these hypothetical new fakes say.

Many like myself are just beginning to realize how deceptive modern AI can be.

Meaning that you're trying to conflate one supposed ethical problem with another.

Personally, I believe this conundrum is easily resolved by emphasizing the importance of the church and physically planting your posterior in the seat, being taught by the one called to equip members of His body.

I prefer flipping through my paper Bible - Especially my 1769 Authorized King James Version printed in Cambride, UK - BLESS GAWD!!!!

I used to commit large portions to memory when I was young, but quit for some reason...probably because I never thought I be in a situation without a bible available.

I was listening to a James White podcast recently, and he was talking about the importance of a regular memorization program.

He talked about how much harder it is to do the older one gets.

Then I thought, if I had to advise someone where to start, where would I tell them, and it dawned on me...

The Psalms.

They contain the entire plan of Redemption from creation to glory, and a prayer for any experience, whether it be victory or oppression of sin or persecution.

After that work on the Sermon on the mount.
